The War of Spanish Succession... Dutch Infantry Regiment Slangenburg.

Another Infantry unit finished...

The Dutch Infantry Regiment Slangenburg...
Another classic W.S.S. grey uniform, but it does conjure up dour Dutch warriors rather well... and they have a nice flag.
I completely forgot to take pictures of the work in progress... but the process was the same as always.

Coat, Waistcoat and socks... Citadel... Administratum Grey.
Cuffs and Drummers Coat... Citadel... Mephiston Red.
Belts Etc... Citadel... Balor Brown.
White bits... Citadel... Pallid Wych Flesh.
Wooden bits... Citadel... Mournfang Brown.

Everything was given a wash of Aly's Brown Liquid and then re-Highlighted with the original colours.

Surprisingly colourful for a 'Grey' uniform...

The miniatures are as always Front Rank...

The paints are Wargames Foundry and Citadel...

Bases from Warbases...

All the best  Aly.

  1. Very nice. Grey is something you're going to have to get used to painting I'm afraid - pearl grey, light grey, slate grey, dark grey a veritable Fifty Shades of Grey!

  6. I'm deeply impressed that you have the fortitude to place the superb musician in the second rank as opposed to front and center. Wonderful brushwork on all!

    1. Thank you Ed...
I suppose I should show a rear view as well...it’s the side you see most of when you are in command and your forces are pushing forwards to victory...

  7. Thank you, Aly, for sharing. I'm new to miniatures and I'm getting ready to build an Anglo-Dutch army for the Black Powder Elixheim scenario. I'd love it if you can give some information on Dutch uniforms. They had over 70 regiments. I don't plan to do the entire Dutch army but enough to represent.

    1. Hi There...
Just getting started with The War of Spanish Succession.? You lucky thing...

As for uniform information... my primary source has been the books and colour plates by Robert Hall...
These are all available from The Pike and Shot Society...
      www.pikeandshotsociety.org
I would recommend these very highly....
      Another useful book is...
Armies and Enemies of Louis XIV by Mark Allen.
This is available from Hellion & Company...
      www.helion.co.uk

Both the Robert Hall books and the Mark Allen book are lavishly illustrated.

      Have fun...

      All the best. Aly
