ALY MORRISON'S "BUTTERFLY" ADVENTURES IN THE WORLD OF WARGAMES AND TOY SOLDIERS

Tuesday 6 February 2018

A New Osprey Men-at-Arms for my library...

The Armies of the first Carlist War 1833-39...

Its everything you would expect from Osprey...
A short but informative history and some nice pictures...A good little primer.

I was however rather amused by the claim that this is the first book on the subject published in English...

I believe this one may be the first...

Even more amusing is that Conrad's Book and Articles in Wargames Illustrated are referenced in the bibliography...

Ah! but I am merely teasing... Its great to see another book on such an interesting and very colourful 19th century conflict.

Of course this doesn't help keep the butterfly under control...I am rather tempted to put together a couple of forces for a Song of Drums and Shakos... Of course once I have finished my French and British...

Flutter Flutter...

All the best  Aly

  1. ...And the Perry's have such a wonderful line of figures for the Carlist Wars, too--bright colors and powerful fragrance to any butterfly :)

  2. The ‘claim’ from Osprey pretty much sums them up I’d say. Try not to flutter off line, but if you do at least do a proper Army or two, none of this 50 figures and done stuff.

  4. Got it for Christmas but have not got around to reading it yet, can't imagine it will provide anymore than Conrad's does though.
