Greetings….
I decided that I could do with an Airbrush…Yup! This is what happens when you have time on your hands 😆
I have had one before…Many years ago.. So it was interesting to see how the quality and pricing has changed over the years…
I bought a Harder and Steenbeck Ultra… From Element Games…

And a Cleaning Pot…

After reading and watching some reviews….It turns out that this bad boy is the “ Bees knees “ as is the Compressor…
The Airbrush is incredibly well made and is designed with the beginner / Lapsed User in mind…
I am still working out what it can do and hopefully when my vision is back to normal I can have a good deal of fun exploring and investigating….
Everyone I have spoken to who uses an Airbrush says this is an excellent choice…
Oh!…
I also bought something to practice on…
Yup! Why go for something simple 🤣…
The operation on my right eye is on Thursday and hopefully the left eye will be in a couple of weeks down the road…
And then… Lead/Plastic Alp beware….😁
All the best. Aly
Best wishes for your upcoming op Aly, hope you will be back to painting soon after. Airbrush purchase is interesting, should be good to see how it works out.
ReplyDeleteNice new toy Aly! I had a Humbrol airbrush when I was too young to use it - my dad bought it for me as a birthday or Christmas present - not sure how old I was - 10-14 ish but don't quote me. I never really tried to use it (I was a technophobe even then!) and at some point, I lost the little tube that connected the paint reservoir to the rest of the device - and that was that!
ReplyDeleteGood choice of a trial victim for your first efforts - and I hope everything goes well with your eye surgery.
Excited for you to have the procedure done soon. Perfect time for the new toy!
ReplyDeleteA great choice of tank. May your eye operation be a painless success.
ReplyDeleteYou’ll be back to serious modelling before you know it - especially with that bad boy! Good luck for the op mate.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with the eye Op, Hopefully all goes well and you're back to yourself again soon. I've never owned an airbrush, but I've often thought about diving in and getting one???
ReplyDeleteYou will like the H&S it is a joy to use. Good news on the eye ops!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the new gadget, I'll stick to brushes though. Best of luck with the Ops!
ReplyDeleteI've never summoned up the courage to get one - always reckoned I'd not clean it well enough and it would fail on me, ending up a waste of money. I shall be watching what you make of it with interest; please include some detail on the cleaning process.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with op, also interested to hear how you think the before and after compares, as I've been told I have some early signs of cataracts developing.
Best of luck with the op. Airbrushing is something I've never got on with despite having two. I look forward to your progress and tips.
ReplyDeleteNever made the leap to airbrush--seems more for vehicles and the like, none of which are in my eras (so far...). Best of luck on your eye procedures (and recovery!).
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the operation! I used to spray things for a living, never really enjoyed it as much as using a brush, domesticaly I can't be bothered with the clean up but to be honest it was all in the last century and I'm sure they're all much better now, I'm just not a naturaly neat and tidy worker! Nice choice for a test piece!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you for all your best wishes…
ReplyDeleteThe operation went really well … Even after just 24hours I have really clear vision in my right eye…
The difference in colour vision is incredible… My left eye has what can only be described as a nicotine tint to everything….And my right eye is bright and clean by comparison… I am almost afraid to look at the last lot of figures I painted 🤣…
I am looking forward to getting the left eye done…The surgeon said they want to get it done fairly soon…
Which is encouraging as the Lead/Plastic Alp is continuing to grow…
For the moment I shall be keeping posts to a minimum as I don’t want to put a strain on things…
All the best. Aly
Great news! That should have the Alp trembling with anticipation.
DeleteIs that with the same prescription glasses?
That is without any glasses…
DeleteWith my new eye/eyes , I am long sighted now instead of short…
I will now need reading glasses to paint my toys…
It is quite a weird feeling…Waking up and not having to put my glasses on…
A friend of mine who had the same procedure described exactly what you are concerning the color vision between the repaired eye and the other (so that to me sounds most encouraging for your progress).
DeleteThe change in colour intensity is something everyone mentions…
DeleteAnd I can quite literally now see why 😆.
All the best. Aly
All the best with the upcoming operations Aly. I'm interested in seeing what you achieve with the airbrush as I've never used one.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Meic
Thank you Meic…
DeleteEverything went well…
I am really looking forward to playing with my new toy once the other eye is done .
All the best. Aly
Glad to hear the op went well - I have only had the left eye done so far. The procedure while not exactly pleasant is not as bad as I thought it would be.
ReplyDeleteI would certainly describe it as an interesting experience 😁.
DeleteI am definitely not so nervous about the next operation.
All the best. Aly
