Hurrah!
Another unit finished... Sparre-allamand.
I chose this unit because I like the colour combination I also wanted to try a different shade of blue...
They are described as having Medium Blue coats and Chamois Yellow cuffs...Hmmmm!
What does Chamois Yellow look like?.......hard to be certain...
I went for a colour that looked the same as my Chamois cloth... Citadel Bestigor Flesh.
This is colour the test ...
Coat and Waistcoat... Citadel... Caledor Sky.
Cuffs... Citadel... Bestigor Flesh.
Belts... Citadel... Balor Brown.
Musket/wooden bits/powder flask ... Citadel ...Mournfang Brown
Ammunition pouches and Officers scabbards ... Citadel ... Skrag Brown
Grenadier, Sergeant and hat braid ... Foundry ... Ochre 4B.
As usual everything was blocked in with flat colours(I had help this time, my chum Wayne did the blocking in for me which sped things up nicely).
Then given a wash of Aly's Brown Liquid... and re-highlighted with the original shade.

Superb, no doubt!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely.
ReplyDeleteA visual treat, great brushwork and a good choice of paints.

Going along nicely there. Another fine looking addition to the project
ReplyDeleteVery nice indeed Aly, I find blues the hardest to get right but I shall take note from these. Nice solid figures as ever with Front Rank, a joy to behold.

Very nice Aly, but take care, you are getting dangerously close to having a force that you can take to the table.
ReplyDeleteI know...I am not normally this fast...
DeleteIt must be all the positive encouragement....
Love the era (be still MY butterfly), and your units like this are inspiring. Here's an interesting note about the Sparre regiment that I stumbled across when doing research for my Nine Years War project): At the Battle of Fleurus, 1690, Luxembourg's great victory, the Swedish brigade on the allied side gave up some 500 prisoners--who would take up French service to form the Sparre regiment (later to be known as the Royal Swedish Regiment).
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the things I love about the period...the mixture of nationalities fighting on all sides...which means lots of cool uniforms and flags...
DeleteAll the best Aly
Thank you for your kind comments and encouragement
