Partizan 2022… The stuff.

Greetings…

I was going to show everything I bought individually….But as some of it is for a future project and there is quite a few books, I am just posting one picture of the pile for now…

I shall show the books later in smaller batches, which should give me some time to have a good look through them…

Here we go…

I saved up some money over the last year and a bit so I could have a good old splurge when I got back to going to shows… which I did.

Although I was somewhat surprised to find I still had some of the money left at the end of the day… Clearly I was showing restraint… Although I think ‘A kid let loose in a sweetshop ‘ would still be a more accurate description…😂

Hopefully next time I will have some Canadian Light Dragoons to show you.

All the best.  Aly

Partizan 2022.

Greetings…

Hurrah!… I made it to a show.

It’s only taken two years 😁.

Dave Andrews gave me a lift over to Newark Show Ground on Sunday morning (Thank you sir you are a gentleman)…I have really been looking forward to this years show having missed out on Hammerhead because of Covid…

I was not disappointed…

We got there fairly early as we were part of Team Perry… But I must confess I pretty much spent the day wandering around talking to lots of lovely people, looking at all the games and buying things I really really needed…

I feel I deserved it…

There were some excellent games to look at…

I didn’t take as many pictures as I usually do… mostly because of all the time I spent chatting with old friends…

Here… In no particular order are some of the games I captured on (digital) film.

First up… Some beautiful small scale naval action from The League of Augsburg.

Next up some Very British Civil War action from One in Six Gaming…

Carlist Wars from Westbury Wargamers…

The Barons War FB Group…

Delightful stuff from the Iron Brigade…

Great Northern/Russo-Turkish War action from Derby Wargames Society…

Magnificence from the Friends of Ian Smith…

A couple of shots of Alan and Michael Perry’s ‘Dorking’ Game…

With Crook at the Rosebud from the Barnsley Association of Wargamers…

The Invasion of 1910 by 1/72 Wargames (I think)…

Grimsby Wargames Society… The Siege of Vicksburg…

Hougoumont from Like a Stone Wall…

Silver Bayonet from The Newark Irregulars…

30 Years War action from Mr Steve Spence…

Never Mind the Boat Hooks from The Billhooks Brothers…

Gothenburg Gamers… Go for Bronze.

The one important thing I had to do on the day was to judge the Adrian Shepherd Award for Best Tabletop Vignette….

The prize went to The Iron Brigade…

An American Civil War Coffee Wagon… Who would have known such a thing existed…
Well… Probably Adrian.

An excellent show all round… It was indeed lovely to meet up with and chat to old friends, new friends and friends to be…
I even let myself be photographed… and that doesn’t happen often 😁

I will show off my purchases… mostly books…in another post…

All the best.  Aly.

From my side of the table… Somewhere near London…

Greetings

I recently had my first face to face game since Mharaid came round for Boxing Day…

I took part in a ‘Dorking’ game… Set somewhere near London…

I’m calling this a ‘Dorking’ game as it is of course inspired by the novella…The Battle of Dorking: Reminiscences of a Volunteer by George Tomkins Chesney.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Battle_of_Dorking

The scenario had the plucky British attempting to thwart the evil intentions of the dastardly Prussian invaders…

I was a dastardly Prussian…

The battle was fought to a bloody draw…

Alan and Michael will be taking this game to Partizan… So if you are going to the show pop over and see it in all it’s glory

Here are a few photos that hopefully give a flavour of the action…

The quiet English countryside…

Rudely disturbed by dastardly Prussians… Being dastardly.

The British response…

My dastardly men making a cunning flanking manoeuvre…

It’s a tricky shot…

But someone had to make it…

Drat it… It’s the Guards…

This got a bit messy…

And to show that my dice throws are up to their usual high standard…

I needed four or higher… sigh!

This was indeed great fun… It felt good going out and playing toy soldiers with my friends.

All the best.  Aly
