The War of 1812… More British Infantry.

Greetings…

Here we have yet more British infantry for this project…

Another batch of The 41st Regiment of Foot…

As with the previous unit these chaps were a pleasure to paint…

You may notice that the are being lead by a sergeant… This is for two simple reasons… I can’t find my bag of British officers… And this is a rather nice figure. It doesn’t make any difference in the rules I am going to use (Rebels and Patriots) but when I find where all my officers have gone I may replace him…or maybe not.

The Tunics are… Citadel… Evil Sunz Scarlet.

The Trousers and Braid are… Citadel… Pallid Wych Flesh.

The Knapsacks are… Foundry… Drab Light 12C.

The Straps are… Citadel… Corax White.

The Water Bottles are… Citadel… Russ Grey.

The Water Bottle Straps… Citadel… Skrag Brown.

The Muskets are… Citadel… Mournfang Brown.

As always everything was given a coat of Aly’s Brown Liquid and highlighted with the original colours, the belts were further highlighted up with pure White.

The figures are from Knuckleduster Miniatures

I have some more 1812 figures on the way… and then maybe something shiny.

All the best.  Aly

The War of 1812… The British 41st Regiment of Foot.

Greetings…

The next unit for the War of 1812 is…

The British 41st Regiment of Foot…

These guys saw service in Canada throughout the whole of the war so it was a real no brainer to add them to the collection… They also have red facings which I rather like.

Here is a little background courtesy of Wikipedia…

This was… as all these units have been… a real joy to paint.  I suppose it does help that this is one of my favourite periods with some very pretty uniforms.

The Tunics are… Citadel… Evil Sunz Scarlet.

The Trousers and Braid are… Citadel… Pallid Wych Flesh.

The Knapsacks are… Foundry… Drab Light 12C.

Shiny American Civil War… Rush’s Lancers.

Greetings…

It’s shiny time…

Another unit for my Shiny American Civil War project…

This time it is Rush’s Lancers…more correctly the 6th Pennsylvanian Cavalry.

I’ve always loved the idea of lancers during the American Civil War so these guys were a real must have… The anachronistic weaponry was however discontinued in 1863.

Regardless of what they were armed with they went on to become one of the best Union cavalry regiments…fighting at Gaines’ Mill, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Brandy Station and Gettysburg.

These chaps are from Jacklex Miniatures but I have converted them a bit to remove the carbine sling as very few of the men were originally issued with them… I also added shoulder scales and made my own swords…
I did wonder if I had made the pennons a bit big…but now that they are done I am quite happy with the result.
As is always with Jacklex figures these were a joy to put together and paint…

The Tunics are… Citadel… Kantor Blue with a touch of Caledor Sky.
The Trousers are… Citadel… Hoeth Blue.
The Lances are… Citadel… Mournfang Brown.
The Braid is… Foundry…Ochre 4B.
The Pennons are… Citadel… Evil Sunz Scarlet.

Once the main colours were blocked in everything was given a coat of Aly’s Brown Liquid.

The horses were painted Mournfang Brown and then given a couple of diluted coats of Contrast Gore-Grunta Fur.

The figures are from Jacklex…

The bases are as always from Warbases…

The paints are Wargames Foundry and Citadel...

The Guidon came from my old Flags for the Lads supply…

It will probably be more War of 1812 next time… hurrah!

All the best   Aly.

The War of 1812… U.S. 21st Infantry.

Greetings…

Here we have further addition to this project…

This time it is for U.S. 21st Infantry… I decided that my American regiment would indeed be the 21st.

I have gone for the command company…

This all seemed to go as planned… until I looked at the photos…

Can you spot the classic schoolboy error… sigh!

Anyway… now fixed here they are…

Apart from my flag issues/cock-up this was yet again a very enjoyable unit to paint…

I do like the American army uniforms from this period, they are very neat looking.

The Tunics are… Citadel… Kantor Blue.
The Trousers and Piping are… Citadel… Pallid Wych Flesh.
The Pack and Snapsack are… Citadel… Hoeth Blue.
The Canteens are… Foundry… Sky Blue Light 21C.
The Muskets are… Citadel… Mournfang Brown.
The Belts are… Citadel… Corax White.
As always everything was given a wash of Aly’s Brown Liquid and then highlighted with the original colours… the Belts were also highlighted with pure White.
