Greetings…
The next unit for the War of 1812 is…
The British 41st Regiment of Foot…
These guys saw service in Canada throughout the whole of the war so it was a real no brainer to add them to the collection… They also have red facings which I rather like.
Here is a little background courtesy of Wikipedia…

This was… as all these units have been… a real joy to paint. I suppose it does help that this is one of my favourite periods with some very pretty uniforms.
The Tunics are… Citadel… Evil Sunz Scarlet.
The Trousers and Braid are… Citadel… Pallid Wych Flesh.
The Knapsacks are… Foundry… Drab Light 12C.
The Straps are… Citadel… Corax White.
The Water Bottles are… Citadel… Russ Grey.
The Water Bottle Straps… Citadel… Skrag Brown.
The Muskets are… Citadel… Mournfang Brown.
As always everything was given a coat of Aly’s Brown Liquid and highlighted with the original colours, the belts were further highlighted up with pure White.
The figures are from Knuckleduster Miniatures

The paints are Wargames Foundry and Citadel...

A smart bunch of chaps there Aly and no mistake.

Lovely chaps. I see you’ve based them as 3’s 2’s and 1’s. Is that for a specific rule set Aly?
ReplyDeleteThank you JBM…
DeleteI am going to be using Rebels and Patriots… one of the recommended/suggested basing styles is 3,2,1…
All the best. Aly
They look very nice indeed Aly. Personally, I have the opposite opinion on red facings....I like the contrast of white, yellow or various shades of green...red on red doesn't really do it for me!
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith…
DeleteI like the simplicity of the red facings and the standard is also quite nice…
I was also very tempted by the green facings of the 49th… another unit that spent time in Canada.
All the best. Aly
Another lovely unit there Aly:).

A very nice regiment: we love the white and red combination of uniforms. Again, we would be intrigued by the meaning of two flags. With fantasy rules like Warhammer in mind, another question arose about the rules of the game you plan to use for these miniatures. We noticed that the two flag-bearers are paired on the same base, while the drummer is paired with two foot soldiers. Are standard bearers and drummers special figures in the military unit, or do they count as much as other common soldiers?
ReplyDeleteThank you…
DeleteThe standards/flags are a similar system to what many European armies were using at the time.
The coloured flag is the regimental standard and the other is the national one…
The rules I am going to use are Rebels and Patriots…
The musicians and standard bearers do not affect the units in these rule so they are purely for decoration…
In other rules they sometimes do give special bonuses.

Very nice indeed.

Yes, one needs the 41st and these look great!
ReplyDeleteI was very disappointed though when I learned they had red facing. ( I like a bit of contrast)
Thank you Ross…
DeleteYes you do indeed need them…
The facings my not be as colourful as some but the made up for that with their military record…
All the best. Aly
Mighty fine looking troops! That red is a teal eye catcher
ReplyDeleteThat you Nick…
DeleteRed is actually one of my favourite colours to paint.
All the best. Aly
Another lovely unit, Aly.
