Hurrah!
The first unit finished this year...
Danish... Sjarland Ritter Regiment No 2.
I have been looking forward to painting this unit... I really liked the idea of the Purple-Red facings... It proved to be a rather elusive colour to find...every illustration or image I found was different.
I ended up going for a mix of Foundry Royal Purple and Citadel Evil Sunz Scarlet.
The rest of the uniform is based on Bob Marrion's illustration in Charles Grant's The Armies and Uniforms of Marlborough's Wars Volume 1.
The colours are all blocked in in my usual way...
Coat... A mixture of... Citadel... Stormvermin Fur and Pallid Wych Flesh. approximately 30% to 70%.
Facings... A Mixture of... Foundry... Royal Purple and Citadel... Evil Sunz Scarlet.
I don't know the proportions it was a bit of trial and error until I got the colour I liked.
Belts... Foundry... Buff Leather. 7B
Saddle Cloth... Foundry... Ochre 4B.
Saddle Cloth edging and Brest Plate lining... Citadel... Evil Sunz Scarlet.
Horse... Citadel... Mournfang Brown with a Reikland Fleshshade Wash.
All washed with Aly's Brown Liquid...
Then...except for the horse, highlighted with the original colours...
I am very pleased with this unit... given that the colours are mostly grey for the troopers and brown for the horses it has turned out to be rather colourful.
The miniatures are as always Front Rank...
