Lion Rampant 3rd Century... A new table set up.

 Greetings...

I thought it was about time I tried out my Geek Villain gaming mat...

https://geekvillain.co.uk/products/wargaming-battle-mat-6x4-sicily

So I have set things up for another solo game of Lion Rampant...

I should really try and come up with a cool sounding name for these games... How about...

Lion Rampant - Rome in Crisis.

Anyway here are some pictures...

I think it looks rather good...

I have already said how much I likes the look of this product...and it’s pleasing to see how good it looks on the table.

To get the hills and contours a just set up my normal terrain...

Once the mat was placed over it , the fleece clung nicely to the flocked surface of my boards.

I shall have to invest in roads and rivers at some point.. there are are a few nice ones out there.

Giving in to temptation... yup!

Roman and Palmyrene camel riders and a Nellie...

I think that these are going to be a lot of fun to paint...

They are of course A&A Miniatures

  1. The gaming mat looks great Aly and that is a nice little supply drop you have received. Now, if you were Dean at WAB, those would all be painted in seventeen hours time!

I think it’s going to take considerably longer than seventeen hours.... weeks maybe.
      😁

  6. I really like the Geek Villain product, the variations in your Sicily mat gives a good look. they do the ‘hills under the mat’ well, but my camera and light direction struggles to pick up the undulations.

The fleece texture is particularly pleasing... and it does help pick up the contours.

  8. I agree with Rob Young. You need to give in to temptation more often if this is the outcome!

  13. Given the camel riders in your previous post, I can say with authority that you had no choice but to get some yourself. Glad to see you indulged and added the nellie. Can't wait to see them on the mat!

Young Mr Andrews’s painting is a persuasive advert indeed.
However having said that...I am tempted to paint Nellie first...

    1. That happens a lot with the internet Mark.
I seem to have some Vacu-formed rivers and a few more Sassanids making their way to Morrison towers...
I have no idea how that happened...
It must have been the kids...😁

  16. Aly,
Looking forward to the game. The geekvillian mats are nice products I have a few! Including the Sea mat which works well. Yes it's strange how internet browsing results in small brown box deliveries ! Long may it continue

The toys are on the table... hopefully I will get a few moves in tomorrow.
I have to admit that I wasn’t sure about terrain mats until I saw these.

I see my internet purchases as a way of keeping the economy afloat in these troubled times...
