40mm Napoleonics… British 43rd Light Infantry.

Greetings…

Here is the next batch of 40mm Napoleonics…

The British 43rd Light Infantry…

I have always liked white faced uniforms… they have a brightness about them.

Once again a joy to paint…
I also took the chance to try out some paints from AK Interactive… I must say I was very pleased with the results, they covered well and had a nice Matt finish. I may have to pick up a few more colours to add extra variety to my paint choices…. Also I am a bit of a paint addict 😁.
I have some Spanish Guerrillas waiting to be based and Spanish infantry on the slightly more cluttered painting desk.

The Trousers are… Citadel… Pallid Wych Flesh and Mournfang Brown.
                                AK… English Grey.
The Tunics are… AK… Matt Red.
The Officers Tunic is… AK… Matt Red plus some AK Cadmium Red.
The Muskets are… Citadel… Mournfang Brown.
The Knapsacks are… Foundry… Moss Light 29C.
The Backpacks are… Foundry… Moss 29B.
The Greatcoats are… Citadel… Administratum Grey.
The Water Bottles are… Citadel… Hoeth Blue.
The Water Bottle Straps are… Citadel… Skrag Brown.

As always everything was given a wash of Aly’s Brown Liquid and highlighted with the original shade plus some extra highlights and work on the lighter colours and faces.

The paints are Wargames Foundry, Citadel and AK Interactive.

The bases are as always…

All the best.  Aly

From My Side of the Table… A Wargames Marathon.

Greetings…

Last weekend our good friend Jan popped over to the Lead Belt for a visit and Alan and Michael (Perry) organised a weekend of gaming….
There was a game on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday…
I made it to the Friday and Sunday games… and to an enjoyable Saturday night out.

Here is Alan and Michael’s account of the games/weekend…

The Friday game was a War of the Roses affair which ended in a brutal and bloody draw.

The Baddies…Mostly because I wasn’t commanding them…

The Goodies…

The view from the Forces of goodness…

Our compatriots from the Emerald Isle…

The cavalry brace themselves…

Basically everyone just charged at each other and went full on stabby stabby…

Stab…

Stab…

And Stab..

More Stabbing…

Yup!…

In the end both sides were completely shattered…and stabbed…so we went to the pub😁

Sunday’s game was The Battle of Giniss 1885…

I’ve played this one before…

So… Another chance for the Enthusiastic Giniss Defence League to throw the Imperial Colonial Forces from their land…

Here we see the occupants of Giniss fully distracted and engaged in a community sewing bee…

An Imperial Colonial forward observation post keeps watch on our innocence pleasures…

The Defence League are also giving the village cannon a good clean and polish…

Meanwhile… The stomp and crash of Imperial Colonial boots goes unnoticed…

Suddenly alerted we drop our needles and thread and snatch up our pointy sticks…

Stomp, Stomp, Stomp and Stomp…

Towards the least observant village security guard in the history of village security guards…

Pointed sticks in hand the Enthusiast Giniss Defence League rush forward to defend their homes and local community health and sports centre…

Take that!… we got one of them… Hurrah! (It is of course possible that he may have just tripped over).

“Hi there…I like your nice red jackets “

“Can you keep an eye on these horses please”
“Yeah…no problem “
🙄

This did not end well…

Charge…

Charge…

And charge…
I think you may be able to guess where this all ends…

The beautifully polished cannon let’s rip…

Hah!…
Another one bites the dust… hopefully.

In we went… lots of stabby stabby… we even made some Imperial Colonial Bootlicking Whelps run away…
Sadly pointed sticks and beautifully made cardboard shields are no good against cannons, machine guns and modern breechloading rifles…
So we ran away…

But we took the keys to the Local Community Health and Sports Centre with us… and emptied the Jacuzzi.

Considering the result this was a lot of fun…. My dice throwing was truly appalling 😂

A great weekend was had by all and it was splendid to meet up with Jan again.

All the best. Aly

A nice new painting desk…

Greetings…

This week I took delivery of a new painting desk and chair…Hurrah!

I’ve been working on my old kitchen table for a while which was just too small and a bit rickety.

I am always dismayed by how many parts and how many different screws, nuts and bolts go into a simple piece of furniture.

The chair isn’t perfect… I would have preferred something with a higher back… but I am going to wait until all my house renovations are finished before I splash out on something a bit more flash.

Anyway… here it is.

This is almost certainly the tidiest it will ever be…

Next up will be some 40mm British… and soon some Spanish.

All the best.  Aly
