From my side of the table… ACW… Last game of the year.

Greetings….

Between Christmas and New Year Alan and Michael Perry and myself popped over for a game with Dave Andrews in his lovely wargames room…
Dave had set up the table for an American Civil War game …
We used ‘This Hallowed Ground’ which can be downloaded from Jay Whites excellent blog …


We had a splendid day’s gaming…Michael and I were the Union and Alan and Dave took the part of the Confederacy….
There were various points on the table that needed to be captured and held… in the end we fought to a rather bloody draw…

It’s hard to believe… but these are my dice scores.



Unfortunately the high scoring dice here indicate casualties.




Red dice start to appear amongst the Confederacy.




At the end of the game…The Confederacy has the crossroads and The  Union hold the bridge.

All the figures and terrain are from Dave’s wonderful collection… It’s always very inspiring getting to play with all those lovely toys.

    He does in deed put on a lovely table ….. that orchard (3rd photo) has caught my eye for a future build.

      Dave certainly puts on a good show…
      The trees in the orchard were held in place w the magnets so that you could pop them off as you moved troops through.

    Fantastic looking table, miniatures and terrain there Aly....real eye candy!
    WELL, two draws in a row, maybe your predictions for 2023 will turn out to be accurate .....and all those fives and sixes.....what have the Nottingham Council been putting in the water supply??!

      It was indeed a lovely game…
      I think these dice rolls were a festival treat from the dice gods… The high scores have already started to drop off 😂.

    Another great game report - the miniatures and terrain are gorgeous! But how large was the table? And what was the scale of the minis?

      The table was 6 feet by 12 feet and the figures are 28mm.

      Yes in that respect I am a very lucky man…
      I got Drinky to take the dice gods out on a pub crawl… when they sober up I am sure things will be back to normal… or possibly worse 😂.

    What a lovely table setup! I always think it is a bit odd to see American Civil War tables featured across the pond, but what does that make me with my Napoleonic setup here in the American South!

      American Civil War has always been popular in the U.K…. I suspect it may have something to do with the original Airfix figures..
