And…. Yet More New Books

Greetings …

Napoleon’s Heavy Cavalry and Napoleon’s Dragoons and Lancers…

Yup!…

It was always going to happen…

And of course they are everything that I’ve come to expect from Mr Dawson…

Loads of pictures and information…I am certainly looking forward to taking a deep dive into the subject of Napoleonic French Cavalry…

And the good thing is that the vision in my eye is loads clearer and I have picked up some half decent reading glasses…
Not good enough to paint with…But I should manage some basing.

All the best.  Aly

  6. I have to admit, I don't seem to be buying as many books as I used to... ones like this are a bit too tempting, looks good. I.will.not.start.another.army.

  9. Lovely looking book, it's took me a while to get used to reading glasses after my op but it works out in the end!

    1. I’m so used to taking my glasses off to look at things up close…
I have to think twice about popping glasses on… I’m sure I will get used to it…

  10. You're obviously lucky enough to have room on your bookshelves. I need to thin mine again - being obliged to go down the Kindle route is sub-optimal.
Glad to hear the eye's doing well, bet you're looking forward to getting the other one done.

    1. I have gotten rid of a few books… mostly the sort of uninformative coffee table additions that I was given as presents…
Yes I am indeed getting impatient about/looking forward too the next operation…

  11. I will be an outlier heretic Aly and admit I buy very few books, particularly nowadays! I honestly think if you want to know how many buttons were on the turnback's of the 11th Hussars as opposed to the 9th Hussars, you can almost certainly find out via Google - but as I say, I understand it's a minority view!
Don't get me wrong, I still have a 6" x 3" cupboard full of books (and that's after I got rid of a heap!) and your purchases always look excellent, but I have limited finances AND limited space for more figures - so I would rather concentrate my resources there!
It seems, from your blog, that you are probably a single male living in a family sized home - so you have a bit (LOT!) more freedom of action in those regards! 😂
Good news about your eyes - mine are the opposite - I have needed painting glasses for around 20 years and for the last 10 have also needed them for reading and PC work - but I don't need to wear them to drive or other daily life activities.......yet!

    1. I wouldn’t consider you a heretic Keith….
The best thing about this hobby is that there are so many ways to approach it…
I like books so I would buy them anyway… I do enjoy a good crime novel 😁
I guess I am lucky that I have my home to myself and almost enough room to store my books and toys…
The thing I don’t seem to have enough of is of course time… so roll on retirement…

      All the best. Aly

  12. Great looking buy, the internet is great but doesn't (for me) have the same feeling as holding a reference book.

    1. Yes I also find the tactile quality of books very pleasing…of course the size and weight of some volumes makes them impossible to just stick in your pocket/backpack and take down to the pub 😄.
