Greetings …
I saw this book….
Now anyone who knows me knows that there was no way I was going to walk past this one 🤣
David Price combines a history of the development and production of this beautiful aircraft combined with an account of how he decided to built a full scale replica in his own back garden…
I am looking forward to reading this 😁
And now something silly…
I’ve had these for quite some time and they have spent most of that time in a box… Then my neighbour lent me a bicycle pump with the correct adapter…
I think the only ones that are still available are the 88mm and a Panzerfaust…
The cat was impressed…
I have actually been doing more painting… I am working my way through a unit of Shiny Napoleonics French Infantry, I am taking it slow but steady and I will try and post some WIP pictures soon.
Right… Enough silliness… I’m off to find an inflatable Tank 🙀
All the best. Aly

Looks an interesting book and a fine collection of whimsy. I like the tiger eyeing up the 88 shell.
ReplyDeleteIt does indeed look like a good read Phil…
DeleteI’m surprised she didn’t try and knock them over… Or more likely run away…She is a true Scaredy Cat 🙀
All the best. Aly
Words fail me!
ReplyDeleteWell that will be a first 🤣…
DeleteI have to admit that that was my first reaction… And then the butterfly turned up 🦋🦋🦋
I have no idea where they are going to go…
All the best. Aly
Inflatable shells, whatever next...lol!
ReplyDeleteInflatable Cannons/ Tanks/ Aircraft… 😁
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Inflatable tank rounds: fantastic! The spitfire book reminds me of an episode of James May's Toy Soldiers where he builds the world's largest Spitfire Model (available on youtube, I believe).
ReplyDeleteThe tank rounds are daft but fun…
DeleteI remember watching that James May episode… That was also daft but fun.
All the best. Aly
That’s great with these you can wargame Patton’s phantom army for D-day!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed…I just need the armour.
DeleteThose DDay dummy Shermans must be rarer than hens teeth, as they weren’t built to last…
All the best. Aly
She looks like she's wondering what would happen if she tried to savage one of them ....
ReplyDeleteI did wonder if she would try….
DeleteBut she just sat there for a few minutes and then wandered off…
She may have been weighing her chances up though…
All the best. Aly
The book looks like it will be an entertaining read, and inflatable shells, well why not!!
ReplyDeleteI am looking for to getting started on it…
DeleteThe shells are indeed very… well why not 😁
All the best. Aly
Made me chuckle!
ReplyDeleteExcellent 😁
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Excellent….a full scale inflatable tank would be fun but hard to find space for ?
ReplyDeleteI reckon I could get a Sherman in the garden 😈
DeleteNot sure what my upstairs neighbour would think…
All the best. Aly
I thought you were going to say you were building a full sized replica Spitfire!
ReplyDeleteThe cat does look impressed!
Neil
Unfortunately there is not enough room in the garden for that.. She has the same expression when she is confused 🤣
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Another eclectic mix Aly.....the blow up ( pun intended) shells look better than might be expected, clever designs!
ReplyDeleteI try my best Keith…
DeleteThey are well designed… They have a weighted base so they are quite stable when standing upright.
All the best. Aly
Certainly looks good. The shell collection. The book is neat too.
ReplyDeleteI wish they had made a few more types… I suppose though, these ones are probably most likely to sell…
DeleteThe book looks like it will be entertaining.
All the best. Aly
You never fail to surprise me Aly. Love all of it. If you had an inflatable Sherman in the garden your upstairs neighbour could use it as a bouncy castle or as a way to cushion a fall from the window. Can’t complain about that can you.
ReplyDeleteThank you…I do my best 😁
DeleteI think the ‘garden feature’ argument might work…. Also ‘ it will confuse the rest of the neighbourhood’ has a lot going for it…
All the best. Aly
Could not walk past that book either Aly. I so far have resisted the temptation to purchase blow up shells from the tank museum…… maybe next visit!
ReplyDeleteCheers
Matt
It has a very tempting cover to it… And who wouldn’t want to know how to build a Spitfire 😁
DeleteThe shells are certainly a conversation starter.
All the best. Aly
Those tank shells are very effective and just what you want to bomb up your Sherman DD.
ReplyDeleteAnd, shiny Naps on the painting table - Yay!
The do work rather well…
DeleteI think I would go for a Sherman Firefly…Mainly because the 17pounder is so impressive.
I am about half way through the ‘ shiny’s’, I may take a WIP picture if I have time…
All the best. Aly
I was thinking of their alternative use as flotation aids.
DeleteYou would certainly get some interesting looks the Swimming Pool
DeleteWhat a great looking book Aly...it congers up a vision of someone building a Spitfire in their basement then thinking..."oh, how am I going to get it outside?"
ReplyDeleteGood to see you are getting back onto painting.
You would definitely need an impressive basement for that…
DeleteIt is good to be getting back to painting… I may be a bit slow at the moment but I am thoroughly enjoying it.
All the best. Aly
Looks like an excellent book, I once worked with a Croatian chap who's job was to design/build plywood T55s during the balkan wars, he said it was quite fun, just a bit scary because of the context? Shiny Napoleonics? Yes please?
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
I am looking forward to reading it…
DeleteIt’s certainly an interesting job/ concept… Building something the you intend to get destroyed.
The shiny Napoleonics are coming along steadily…
All the best. Aly
One well placed sharp claw will take care of those certainly!
ReplyDeleteShe is too much of a scaredy cat to take on armour piercing shells…🙀
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Really looking forward to seeing more of your Shiney Napoleonics! I’ve refocused on my shiney Napoleonic project over the last few months, and am making great headway. Have also enlisted Scott Macphee to help get armies on the table sooner. He’s actually starting on D’Erlon’s I Corps French Infantry this week (20 stands of 6 figures).
ReplyDeleteI’m looking forward to getting more painted…
DeleteScott is certainly a bit of a machine when it comes to painting and his stuff is lovely and neat…
All the best. Aly
He is such a machine! I could never do what he does!
DeleteSuperb, just simply superb!
ReplyDeleteThank you Meic…
