Greetings…
Here is the latest unit for my Shiny Napoleonics collection…
The 3rd French Infantry…
They took a little bit longer than I thought they would… but I am trying not to put too much strain on the new eyes.
They are certainly working a lot better 😁
Here we go…
The figures are Minifigs Intermediate Range…
And were as always a joy to paint…
The Tunics are… Citadel… Kantor Blue.
The White bits are… Citadel… Pallid Wytch Flesh.
The Red bits are… Citadel… Evil Sunz Scarlet.
The Green bits are… Citadel… Warboss Green.
The Yellow bits are… Citadel… Averland Sunset.
The Light Blue bits are… Citadel… Hoeth Blue.
The Belts are… Citadel… Corax White.
The Backpacks and Muskets are… Citadel… Mournfang Brown.
Everything was given a coat of Aly’s Brown Liquid and highlighted with the original colours. The Belts were also highlighted up to a pure White.

The bases are as always...

Very nice Aly, a real joy. I am just discovering the Corax White for my Austrians, with scar white then used for highlights and cross belts.
ReplyDeleteThank you Norm..
DeleteCorax White and Pallid Wych Flesh are my go to starting colours for white clothing and belts… you get a nice clean white with one and an unbleached white with the other.
All the best. Aly
This is shiny at its best - great work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ian…

Lovely brushwork (as always)! I am especially taken by the colorful plumes worn by the elite companies. One questions since I am not up on my MiniFigs history, or the current ranges. Are these 'intermediate' figures vintage and no longer in production? Used to be a big fan of their 15mm Super Detail Napoleonics as a much younger version of me, but that was more for their affordability. Truthfully, they never could hold a candle to their larger 25mm brethren, which I could not afford at the time.
ReplyDeleteKind Regards,
Stokes
(Michigan, USA)
Thank you Stokes…
DeleteThe Intermediates are indeed vintage…And are out of production.
The current range of 25mm Minifigs are certainly very nice toys and I am more than happy to use them…But in my opinion the Intermediates have definitely got the edge on animation.
All the best. Aly
Nice stuff Aly, I had all these figures (about of 8 each, it was all I could afford!) as a teenage wargamer in the late 70's. Definitely my favorite figures at the time!
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith…
DeleteYes my pocket money didn’t stretch to big units either back in the 70’s…
I’m making up for it now though.
All the best. Aly
They look super Aly, top notch, lovely additions to your project,
ReplyDeleteThank you Donnie…

I've said it before but it bears repeating, this unit is just a tour de force of aesthetics and painting skill. Really lovely regiment. How many shiny Napoleonics does that make? Any chance we will see them in a battle soon?
ReplyDeleteThank you very much David…
DeleteI am currently getting some paint on my new wargames table and I am hoping to…at the very least…have a bit of a parade and maybe a game sometime over the Christmas break.
All the best. Aly
Completely agree, David! Aly has set the standard for this genre. You and he (and a few others) have inspired a new wave of interest in shiny toy soldier style minis painting.
DeleteThank you Glen…
DeleteOf course I was only inspired to get into Shiny Napoleonics after seeing Matthew’s (Aka Wellington Man) stunning work on The Hinton Spieler Blog
https://thehintonspieler.blogspot.com/
Which of course lead me onto Miniature Minions 😁
All the best. Aly
Your eyes must be working quite well: these figures are truly wonderful!
ReplyDeleteTremendous work.
Question about the plumes on the elite companies: Did you find a reference about this specific unit that showed the blue in the plumes?
Thank you Glen…
DeleteThe Osprey Napoleons Line Infantry mentions the blue as does Heimdal’s L’ Infanterie de Ligne 1814-1845 book two.
There are some quite interesting plume and uniform variations in the French line infantry regiments throughout the period.
All the best. Aly
J’adore.
ReplyDeleteMerci.
DeleteThey look great. Very nice indeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you Warburton…

Absolutely wonderful Aly! It must be the time to paint the 3rd Line Regiment as I have just finished them as well 😂 (not as nicely done as yours unfortunately)
ReplyDeleteThank you Ben…
DeleteThey are far to pretty not to be painted…
All the best. Aly
Those plumes are eye catching. Another excellent addition.
ReplyDeleteStephen
Thank you Stephen…

Lovely work Aly…..shiny and bright.
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt…
DeleteIt’s just the way I like them…
All the best. Aly
Very nice & shiny too! So encouraging to see you back in painting mode and producing such fine figures!
ReplyDeleteThank you David…
DeleteIt is really good to be getting some toys painted…
I’m still taking it easy… but steadily.
All the best. Aly
Very nicely done, Aly. They do look suitably shiny!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ray…

Superbly shiny as ever!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil…

Lovely! It's great your eyes allow you to go back to painting!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Jan
Thank you Jan…
DeleteI’m really glad to be back to painting… I was quite surprised how much I missed it.
All the best. Aly
Wonderful work. The results are excellent, hopefully not too much new eye strain.
ReplyDeleteThank you..
DeleteI intend to take it slow and steady for a while longer…but there is a large pile of toys demanding my attention 🤣
All the best. Aly
Great to hear the eyes are going from strength to strength, even more so if we're going to be treated to more gorgeous units like this one.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rob…
DeleteI have a few interesting shiny units lined up to get some paint on..
Including some Hinchliffe.
All the best. Aly
These may be some of your loveliest yet, Aly! I feel a tribute regiment might be in order.
ReplyDeleteThank you Matthew…
DeleteI would love to see your take on this unit…
All the best. Aly
The Hincliffe Napoleonic Cavalry includes some pretty fun poses: lots of action. And they work well with other lines, including remounted Minifigs (I’ve remounted some on Del Prado horses, and they look great.)
DeleteMy preference is of course Minifigs…But I do intend to add some more Hinchliffe to the collection… It would be rude not to 😁
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Stunning. It is amazing what can be done to the old Minifigs in the right hands.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bob…
DeleteYour not to bad yourself at transforming these old figures.
All the best. Aly
Brilliant Aly, love these old minifigs
ReplyDeleteThank you Andy…
