Greetings…
While having a FaceTime conversation with my friend David O’Brien ( apparently a third of all wargamers are called Dave/David) I was bemoaning the fact that I couldn’t get hold of any Merit Plastic Hedges….
David immediately disappeared from view… And returned with a sizeable bag of Plastic Hedges.
“ You mean like these”
“Yes”
“I will get them in the post”
What a splendid generous fellow 😁.
A positive Bocage of Hedges…And Walls.
Certainly more than enough for my needs 🙀
Here is the first ( test) batch that I painted.
I decided that I would mount them on MDF bases and paint them in the same way as I painted my Merit trees…

Lucky you, they look great, well done David!

Yes… A very pleasant surprise.
DeleteDavid is most generous…
All the best. Aly
What a splendid gift, and from a David too! What goes around comes around doesn't it? A well deserved gift given your generosity to others.
ReplyDeleteSplendid indeed… Exactly what I was looking for.
DeleteWhere would wargaming be without David’s 😁
All the best. Aly
A good friend indeed and they really match the "old school " vibe of your shiny project, Aly!
ReplyDeleteIt was very kind of David.
DeleteThey are perfect for the “ shiny “ projects…
All the best. Aly
Very nice - I paint mine as well, a very similar shade, but I don't base them - looking at yours I think I might do so.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rob…
DeleteI was thinking of putting a bit of nonslip material under the bases…
All the best. Aly
David is a very splendid fellow! I agree that in the UK, a large percentage of the gamers with who I game with are "Davids"!
ReplyDeleteI agree Jonathan…
DeleteOn both counts 😁
All the best. Aly
Wow! A great gift... :-) (And you may well be right that a third of wargamers are called David too - must be a mark of quality choices going with that excellent name... ;-))
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed David…
Delete“ quality choices” or possibly wayward tendencies 🤣
All the best. Aly
I've never had this kind of hedge but the walls have seen good service. Wargaming has generals full of kindness - it really is the king of hobbies.
ReplyDeleteAlongside many David's there are not an inconsiderable numbers of Johns.
Stephen
I didn’t know they made the walls …so that was another surprise.
DeleteDavid's, John's ,Matt's and Mark's seem to be the most popular…
And yes it is indeed the king of hobbies…
All the best. Aly
There is much kindness and generosity in our hobby community, a most splendid gift.
ReplyDeleteThere is indeed old chap…
DeleteA splendid and useful gift 😁
All the best. Aly
Nicely done and they will suit the shiny soldiers 👍
ReplyDeleteThey fit in a treat with the Shinys…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
They have just the right look - lucky chap!
ReplyDeleteThey do indeed… I’m very pleased with the results…
DeleteAnd indeed a lucky chap.
All the best. Aly
I had some of those hedges in the late 70’s. I wonder where they went too? They were great. Your man David is as generous as you were to me! What goes around, comes around.
ReplyDeleteI am impressed at how well these vintage accessories have lasted…
Delete“What goes around, comes around” That’s a phrase that could strike fear into those with skeletons in the cellar… 🙀🤣🤣🤣
All the best. Aly
I have amassed a few of these and looking at them mounted it is the way to go.
ReplyDeleteThe world needs more Dave's.
They work rather well with the bases…
DeleteYes more Daves please 😆
All the best. Aly
I love using old terrain pieces - got old Britains sort of 2D metal hedges, they add a certain old school style that modern terrain just doesn't give.
ReplyDeleteThere is something very endearing about the old Britains terrain pieces … Definitely Old School.
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Those are fabulous Aly!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
I have resisted painting all of my Merit trees and hedges, but you are making that increasingly hard! Beautifully done. I'm glad to share a name with someone that generous. Do I get credit too?
ReplyDeleteThank you David…
DeleteI reckon you are a fully paid up member of the Dave/David generosity society….
All the best. Aly
