Greetings…
As promised here is a W.I.P. Photo of my next Shiny Napoleonic unit…
They are (going to be) the Hanoverian Light Battalion Luneburg.
I was rather taken by this unit when I first saw it…Riflemen colouring but with the added interest of shoulder rolls and a Belgic shako.
The musician also has red shoulder rolls and shako cords.
The figures I have used are mostly Minifigs Intermediate BN1… British Infantryman Running.
It’s a rather nice active position…
Shoulder rolls and a few other repairs and adjustments were made with Green Stuff.
As can be seen… I could not get all of the original paint off the figures… What you see are the results of one soaking in Dettol and two in Bleach… At this point I decided that life is too short and ended things there…
If I ever find out what the paint was/is I shall use it on the exterior of my house as I suspect it is Weatherproof/ Radiation-proof and possibly Bulletproof …
These will be undercoated tonight…
There will no doubt be some more re - based Romans on their way as well.
All the best. Aly

I am sure they will come up to snuff under your brush! Looking forward to seeing more rejuvenated Late Romans too!
ReplyDeleteThank you David…
DeleteAll the best. Aly.
You will soon get them all shiny new.
ReplyDeleteI do hope so…😁

Hello old chap,
ReplyDeleteThat is a blast from the past! I remember painting a unit of these using Airfix British infantry when I was using Bruce Quarrie’s rules - the orange book version I might add!
Looking forward to seeing them in due course.
All the best,
DC
Your so Old School David…
DeleteThey are indeed a nice looking unit.
All the best. Aly
Well you are to be commended on the uniform goodies. If the paint refuses to give way after 3 encounters with what you have used for stripping....well leaving it on seems appropriate. Looking forward to your results.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe…
DeleteThat paint wasn’t going anywhere 😁
All the best. Aly
A nice uniform Aly, they should look very dashing once painted. Is the bugler a British rifleman - I had a few 50 years ago and am pretty sure I had that figure - plus officer in a pelisse, of course!
ReplyDeleteThe Bugler certainly is a rifleman…
DeleteHe is a bit chunkier than the rank and file… but I reckon he will be okay when he is painted…
All the best. Aly
Interesting uniform, should look really good when painted up, nice pose for the figures.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to getting them done…
DeleteIt is a nice looking pose indeed.
All the best. Aly
Wow you’re getting into full swing now that your peepers are sorted aren’t you. Top stuff.
ReplyDeleteI’m hoping I will be even quicker once retirement kicks in…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Just to reassure you Aly - I've been stripping and repainting vintage figures for many years now and have found that if a bit of old paint doesn't shift it will be no problem once undercoated!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ian…
DeleteI am not entirely sure what I could have escalated up to..to get them fully stripped.
The undercoat does indeed work wonders…
All the best. Aly
Looking forward to seeing these as classic toy soldiers.
ReplyDeleteSo am I…😁
DeleteAll the best. Aly
They should look great with a new coat of paint on!
ReplyDeleteThey should indeed Ray…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
They don't make paint like the used to!
ReplyDeleteIt was certainly made to last the test of time😁…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
The residual paint looks like a sort of chalky white; I have troubles with removing something like that and often just pick off the worse with a knife and paint over it. As you say, life is too short.
ReplyDeleteThere are definitely much better things to do than strip paint…
DeleteI am looking forward to getting started on the painting …
All the best. Aly
Can't wait to watch the transformation on these! I truly appreciate your dedication to the task at hand, with all of the green stuff additions. I have a unit of Spanish Cazadores that really should have wings added as well, but have decided the better part of valor if just to paint them as center company light infantry!
ReplyDeleteThank you David…
DeleteOnce you get into the swing of things it doesn’t take too long…
All the best. Aly
Sounds interesting and as you say life is too short, one has ti draw a line somewhere!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
I would certainly rather be putting paint on than taking it off Iain
DeleteI am looking forward to getting them done…
All the best. Aly
