ALY MORRISON'S "BUTTERFLY" ADVENTURES IN THE WORLD OF WARGAMES AND TOY SOLDIERS

The War of Spanish Succession... Dutch infantry Regiment Wijnbergen

Greetings...

Another unit finished...

Dutch infantry Regiment Wijnbergen...

This is another eBay find...

Nicely painted and a reasonable price...

I have given the flesh a wash of... Citadel ... Reikland Flesh shade... to make them fit with my own style and have touched up the white and orange sashes a bit.

They were re-varnished and the black leather glossed and then re-based to fit once again with my own style.

I wasn't that keen on the standards that were available so I cobbled together some using Robert Hall as a reference... and the magic of Photoshop...

The unit I bought was 24 figures strong...

So I have an extra stand...

Which allows me to make a larger battalion if I wish.. Hurrah!

A lovely looking battalion that with very little tweaking fits nicely with my collection...

The miniatures are as always Front Rank...

    1. Hi Stuart...
Yes they fit in very well...
I now have 7 Infantry,1 dragoon, 1 gun and 1 cavalry units for the Allies...
And 4 Infantry and 1 dragoon for the French...
It is starting to look like a proper collection now...;-)

  7. Another grand looking unit, but I'll say it again Aly, you are getting dangerously close to completing a project!

I think I am about half way towards enough for a game... I shudder to think how many projects you will have completed by that time...:-)

  8. Beautiful job Aly - but who is selling all these FR WSS units on eBay - I did not realise it was popular enough for so many people to have units they no longer want (if that makes any kind of sense!)

    1. Thank you Keith.
I have a saved search on eBay for 28mm WSS figures...it’s only in the last couple of months that I have received any notifications of suitable auctions...
As I only want to use Front Rank miniatures this also cuts down my options.

I think it may be people getting rid of unfinished/stalled projects rather than whole collections.
I have a couple more purchases waiting to be spruced up...which is good as it’s all gone quiet again.

      All the best. Aly

    1. They fit in rather well Ian and they didn’t take that long to spruce...in fact the longest part of the process was the flag making and rebasing.

  10. What beautiful miniatures. I don't think I'd get around to gaming with them I'd just spend my time looking at them. I'm having another serious attack of big figure envy!

  11. Thank you...
I fully intend to look at them and game with them... :-)

There is nothing wrong with toy soldier envy... it’s what keeps me going...

    All the best. Aly
