The War of Spanish Succession... British First Foot Guards.

This is the first of the units that I bought from my good friend Adrian...

The First Foot Guards...

Raised in 1656.

In The War of Spanish Succession they saw action at...

The Schellenberg... 1704.
Blenheim... 1704.
Gibraltar... 1704-1705.
Ramillies... 1706.
Oudenarde... 1708.
Malplaquet... 1709.

The only things I have done to these are..

Tidy up a few chips...
Varnish the leather goods...
Re flag..
And rebase...

And they look lovely...

The Standards were made using the Robert hall plate (GB01) from the Pike and Shot Society plus some Photoshop magic.

The bases were, as always... Warbases.

The miniatures are... Front Rank.

  4. Great stuff Aly - the uniforms in this period really are very attractive indeed - Mark and I (and the rest of our group) must try having another WSS game sometime!

    1. They are indeed Mark...
The reason I went for the pre 1707 colours was because of their clean graphic look.

    1. I find that the three stand format works for most rules... I have some four stand units that count as large battalions.
