Greetings...
I recently received a lovely box of new/old toys in the post...
These are from the seemingly inexhaustible collection of the late Eric Knowles... via David Crook (http://awargamingodyssey.blogspot.com/ )
They are a mixture of French Cavalry and British ,French and Brunswick infantry.
They are mostly S Range Minifigs but there are a few Lammings and some dashing Garrison Hussars... which I am finding hard to resist renovating immediately.
At least I won’t run short of things to do as Nottingham ‘braces’ Itself for a local Covid lockdown...
I should have something Bronze Aged and Shiny next....
All the best. Aly
Aly, you grabbed an impressive collection of Napoleonics. I await your Bronze Age works anxiously.
ReplyDeleteI really have to restrain myself from rushing off and starting lots more units before I finish what I have in front of me...
DeleteMore Bronze Age Europeans with way too much plaid...
All the best. Aly
A nice collection there Aly and stay safe during your local lockdown.
ReplyDeleteThank you Steve ... I don’t think the ‘rules’ will effect me to much... and I certainly won’t be bored...
DeleteAll the best. Aly
A wonderful addition to the collection Aly. That should keep your shininess going for a while.
ReplyDeleteI now have a frighteningly large amount of potential shininess to paint... Hurrah!
DeleteAll the best v. Aly
Congratulations on a magnificent acquisition, Aly! If there's any kind of vox pop going on, my vote is for the Garrison Hussars, which I think were one of the most exquisite wargame figures ever made. I'd love to see what you can do with them.
ReplyDeleteStay safe
Matt
I think it’s going to be the Hussars...
DeleteThey are lovely.
All the best. Aly
That's a mighty reinforcement of nostalgia there Aly. I noticed on BBC World UK news the leading headline was that Nottingham has the worst Covid stats in the country - stay safe mate!
ReplyDeleteHi Keith...
DeleteI said something like....
Reinforcement of nostalgia... I like that 😁
We have five universities and colleges in Nottingham plus a number of private educational establishments
It seemed pretty inevitable that when the students came back there would be a spike in cases...
Unless you work for the government that is...
I am continuing to keep myself to myself... it’s not like I am going to get bored...
All the best. Aly 😂
Wow that’s quite an expansion to your collection!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing them renovated.
Stay safe, and keep painting!
Best wishes,
Jan
I think I have enough to keep me amused... for the moment 😁
DeleteAll the best. Aly
What a magnificent parade Aly!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you are about to descend into another lockdown. We have just exited our’s and I must say I found the second one much more difficulty than the first even though I was in the office most days. I take it you are able to work from home?
Thank you Mark...
DeleteAs I said to Keith it would seem that this was inevitable...
I am fortunate that I work from home... and I certainly have plenty things to do....
All the best. Aly
Hi Aly ….don't see any comment to me mate?
DeleteYour right!... I wonder what happened there...
DeleteThe reply is now in place...😁
DeleteGreat pick up Aly - looking forward to seeing the Garrison Hussars in their new shiny coats. Stay safe mate.
ReplyDeleteThe Hussars have definitely pushed their way up the painting queue...
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Admit I always like to see Garrison figures - slight bias here... let me know if you're short of any.
ReplyDeleteI think I will be getting in touch soon Rob... 😄
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Lovely .....that is going to keep you busy👍
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is...
DeleteAll the best. Aly
You are becoming the supremo of shine Sir.
ReplyDeleteNot a bad title Phil...
DeleteI should get a T-shirt...😁
All the best. Aly
Plenty to get cracking on with in lockdown there. Look forwards o seeing the restoration and renovation work.
ReplyDeleteI certainly have plenty to do Paul...
ReplyDeleteThe main problem will be deciding what to paint first/second/third...........
Best of luck in local lockdown, at least you have plenty to be going on with, are these to be stripped and repainted or touched up and gloss varnished?
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Some of the figures only need some restoration... the rest will be stripped down and repainted...
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Stay safe and shiny Aly, sounds like the perfect lockdown project.
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of safe and shiny...
DeleteI am indeed looking forward to painting these...
All the best. Aly
"Restrain".....Whatever happened to "seize the moment" etc?
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection. Enjoy! (When the time comes)
I am painting up the current “seize the moment” stuff first... 😄
DeleteAll the best. Aly
OK one last try as Blogger seems to toss my comments into the void...
ReplyDeleteGreat haul Aly! Stay safe and keep your head up during this latest lockdown
Hurrah! It worked...
DeleteI have had a few comments go amiss... it must be Bloggers ‘new’ thing...
All the best. Aly
New old toys, an oxymoron if ever there was one, but no doubt bringing pleasure to your good self.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you spotted my linguistic tomfoolery David ... 😁
DeleteThey are indeed bringing me shiny pleasure...
All the best. Aly
Well now that should keep you busy for a long long time. I'm eager to see what you can do to bring these back to life. Looks like they have a pretty good start. Will it be a refurb or will you start from scratch?
ReplyDeleteHi David...
DeleteIt will be a mixture of renovating and repainting... some of these guys have seen a lot of action 😀
All the best. Aly
Great looking Brunswickers Aly. I dread painting large expanses of black so will now be picking up some Black Templar for this.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Ross
Thank you Ross...
DeleteHopefully you will find it a help...
I would recommend you pick up a bottle of the Contrast Medium as well...
It is by far the best stuff to use to dilute all the Contrast Colours... water will make them to runny ...
All the best. Aly
