Greetings...
I have finished the first Roman building for this project...
It’s a Temple from Warbases Veni Vidi Vici Range...
https://warbases.co.uk/product/roman-temple/
The roof was covered with Pantiles from Wills Model Railway Accessory’s...
Mine came from... www.trainshop.co.uk
The walls were given some texture using light weight Polyfilla and I painted it using various earth, cream, grey and ochre Shades from Pebeo Studio Acrylics...
The Amphorae came from Magister Militum
The base was made from a 3mm cake board cut to size...
I am currently working on a Roman Villa...
All the best. Aly

Super nice Aly! I am following your 3rd century project with great interest... It encourages me to continue painting my IIIc. Romans!
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thank you Jose
DeleteI am glad I can encourage you... I look forward to seeing future developments...
All the best. Aly
Very nice. I have to admit that I really only use Warbases for bases!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rob..
DeleteThe buildings are worth a look... although I think their 15mm range probably work better for 20mm figures .
All the best. Aly
Splendid start to the buildings for your Romans and Sassanids to tussle over! Which villa did you choose?
ReplyDeleteThank you David...
DeleteI bought the Hurlingstone Villa
https://warbases.co.uk/product/hurlingstone-villa/
But for a reason I can’t remember I also picked up two more small stores, a pool and a gate...
So it looks more like the Oakdene.

It’s about 50% done now...
All the best. Aly
Splendid stuff. The populace will be flocking to leave votives there.
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil..
DeleteI think the Sassanids are planning a visit as well....

Thank you Iain...
DeleteThe Amphora weren’t cheap... but the effect is worth it.
All the best. Aly
Very smart Aly and could at a pinch be used for some later periods ?
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt...
DeleteI imagine with the right accessories you could almost push these buildings into the 20th Century...
All the best. Aly
Nice one Aly, you could do that for a living ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you...
ReplyDeleteThat would be fun 😁
All the best. Aly
Ooh gorgeous. Look forward to seeing it in action so to speak. I suspect it’ll be a barbarian magnet on the table.
ReplyDeleteThank you JBM...
DeleteGreat to hear from you... and nice to see you are back to blogging
I feel I may have to make some torched building markers... 😁
All the best. Aly
Every time I see the 4th picture down, I can help but see the "Wow" emoji. :o
ReplyDeleteYes...
DeleteOr it should have one of those signs you sometimes see on back entrances to some businesses... “ THIS BUILDING IS ALARMED” 😂
All the best. Aly
Really nice building Aly! Is the tile roofing that you used this one -> https://www.trainshop.co.uk/plastic/18744-roof-tile-reddish-brown-4013285524259.html ? Or some other? Will have to get some as it looks great! I also like the texture on the walls! Will have to try some of it on the Afghan buildings I recently ordered.
ReplyDeleteWaiting to see your Roman Villa!
Best wishes,
Jan
Thank you Jan...
DeleteIt’s these tiles... https://www.trainshop.co.uk/plastic/1627-materials-pantiles-5050881160602.html
