Hurrah! A Game… Lion Rampant…

Greetings…

I have managed to tidy up enough to be able to invite some friends around for a game…Hurrah!

It will be a little bash using the new version of Lion Rampant…

None of my chums have played Lion Rampant before so I will be umpiring… it’s a good chance to introduce people to a new game and it also gives me the opportunity to test out the new version of the game….

The game will be happening tomorrow (Friday)…

Here are a couple of shots of the table…

It’s a simple scenario…

The Sassanids must destroy the Temple and the Villa… The Romans must stop them.

As I am not playing we might see some decent dice rolling… 😁

All the best.  Aly

  2. Hooray, a game indeed! With you not actively rolling dice, will the battle be as entertaining?

    1. I think me just being there might affect the dice in an adverse manner….😂

  3. We can't wait to see your little troops in action. Beautiful scenery for your battle, very verdant for a Middle Eastern setting... but global warming was yet to come in those days!

    1. It is of course set in the Eastern fringes of the Roman Empire… in the Spring when everything is in blossom… Honest 😁

  5. I am sure both armies will be pleased they are not at the mercy of your dice rolling, Aly! We have a lot of Mark at most of our games too - always very entertaining!

    1. Everything went well Carlo…
I don’t think anyone noticed my tidying… they were to busy looking at the toys.

  7. Nice looking layout but don't despair maybe the players will let you roll their dice for them... maybe not... ;o)
A new version of LR? What's changed? Enough to make it worth getting a copy?

    1. The rules were a lot easier to play through…
I think the layout is a lot better in this edition and the rules felt a lot more intuitive… by the end of tonight’s game everyone was working out what they had to do without much help from me…
      And it was fun…

  8. Looking forward to this especially since I treated myself to a copy of the 2nd edition, which is really very nice.

  9. Hi Aly,

Sassanids on the rampage eh? What’s not to like? My one and only victory using WRG 6th edition was against a Sassanid Persian army using Late Romans and a lot of caltrops…. Mind you, my opponent had a serious hangover which may have clouded his judgement somewhat!

Looking forward to seeing how this plays out!

    All the best,

    DC

  10. Fine looking table. I hope that the players did it justice with mighty acts and plenty of heroism along the way!
