Greetings…
Alas it is still very quiet on the painting front…
The eye is definitely getting better… And I have been sticking lots of plastic toys together…
I have even undercoated some…
I thought I would post a picture of some very patient figures that I had painted by my chum Mark Hargreaves… They are currently sitting on my desk shouting…”BASE ME”…
Mark has done a splendid job on these and I hope to add more figures to this slow burner of a project…
Eventually I would like to have a little campaign set in and around Nottingham involving places like Trent Bridge and Wollaton Hall…
So here you go…
These pictures were supplied by Mark… I will be posting more once I have them based.
We are slowly getting closer to seeing German Gliders swooping down on Wollaton Hall and Kriegsmarine assaulting the Cricket Ground.. The castle might be harder to recreate 😁
Hopefully some finished figures sooner rather than later…
All the best. Aly
These look great Aly...Seelowe etc seems to be pretty popular again, and the Dads Army character figures add another level to those of us " of a certain age"...90% of wargamers I would imagine!
ReplyDeleteThey do look the part don’t they…
DeleteI suspect every Home Guard Unit had their own versions of Mainwaring ,Frazer,Wilson and Pike
All the best. Aly
They look great! A "what if" game of Operation Sea Lion is something I would love to do one day, so I'd be very keen to see your version when you get to it. Nuns suddenly turning into German paratroopers--could be lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteMark has done a lovely job of these…
DeleteParatrooper Nuns and Kreigsmarine attacking Trent Bridge Cricket ground… What’s not to like.😆
All the best. Aly
Good to hear that your health problems are improving and the Dad's Army miniatures are lovely, very well painted, they should look good when based and the project sounds like it will be good fun.
ReplyDeleteThe eye is certainly a bit better… Unfortunately the rest of me is a wreck 🤣
DeleteMark certainly knows how to use a paintbrush…
I’m looking forward to building bits of Nottingham…No idea how long it will take though…
All the best. Aly
Excellent brushwork, I recognise a few of those faces.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed Ray…
DeleteYes some classic characters from our TV past…
All the best. Aly
A new project and progress on the eye front! Great news! Not based yet though...Stupid Boy!😉
ReplyDeleteSlow progress but progress indeed…
DeleteI might get Uncle Arthur to help me…
All the best. Aly
Good news on the eye front. Mark has made his usual splendid job in those. Get them based but take care they though they won't like it up 'em.
ReplyDeleteI just wish the rest of me would get better 🤣🤣🤣…
DeleteThe toys look splendid… It’s going to be a fun little Project/Campaign…
All the best. Aly
Good to hear you're health is improving! Lovely looking figures and I look forward to the cricket ground, gliders, castle and Trip to Jerusalem!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
I forgot about the ‘Trip’…
DeleteThat will get defended to the last man 😆
All the best. Aly
Nice figures Aly…….you obviously know my thoughts on all things Sealion and early war ❤️❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteThey look the business Matt…
DeleteYes I reckon we are in agreement with everything early war…
All the best. Aly
Those villagers are just the best. Your Chum Mark has quite the talent. Eager to see what you do with these marvelous figures!
ReplyDeleteYes Mark is an excellent figure painter…
DeleteIf all goes well it will be an enjoyable little campaign…
All the best. Aly
It would be a neat twist to have the crew from "Allo, Allo!" (Capt Bertorelli and his Italians, LT Gruber and his "little tank" etc) landing at Walmington on Sea...
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea Ed - anyone "do" 'Allo 'Allo figures - 28mm 3d prints perhaps?? The "Fallen Madonna with the Big Boobies" may have been evacuated to the Nottingham County Council Museum for safe keeping?
DeleteAnd of course, "someone" has already worked it all out ! https://28mmvictorianwarfare.blogspot.com/2019/06/allo-allo.html
DeleteThere is of course always a place for the Fallen Madonna in my games… 🤣😂🤣.
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Nottingham perfect location, not that I am biased. Great project.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed…
DeleteI am of course biased 😁
All the best. Aly
Fabulous stuff Aly. I gave started watching som if the Dad's Army episodes again recently and remembering what brilliant comedy they were...with classic Mainwaringisms like "...don't tell them your name Pike..."
ReplyDeleteI have the full Dads Army collection on DVD… So I will be doing some serious research…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Noooooooo! Please don’t send me off down a Sealion / VBCW rabbit hole before I’ve climbed out of my 100yrs war one. I can only do one rabbit hole at a time. lol.
ReplyDeleteWould I ever tempt you to do something fun and silly…
DeleteOf course not 😁
All the best. Aly
Was tempted by Dad's Army but decided not to as all the best figures were 28mm so even my terrain / buildings would be no use. I think I might have a magazine with a colour map of Walmington-on-Sea somewhere, would you be interested if I could find it?
ReplyDeleteI am surprised no one has made 20mm Dads Army toys…
DeleteWould I be interested in a map of Walmington-on-sea?
Yes indeed 😆
All the best. Aly
