Greetings …
While packing up books and magazines to make room for the building and redecorating of the Wargames Room/ Library I rediscovered these…They had somehow managed to slide behind a couple of much bigger books.
I completely forgot that I had these…
They are of course from Almark Publications who back in the day produced some splendid works for the Wargamer and Collector…
I think these must have been produced as a ‘Part Works’…
Their rediscovery has happened at the perfect time and they will come in very useful when I can eventually get back to painting my toys…
I will make a point to look out for the missing issues at Partizan in a couple of weeks…
All the best Aly.
A topping rediscovery there Aly!
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed Phil

Good old Almark , one of the forgotten hero's of wargaming!
ReplyDeleteClassic books Tony…
DeleteThese ones are particularly good…

A good find and right on cue!
ReplyDeleteThey certainly are David…
DeleteAnd very informative…
All the best. Aly
Some very nice (and useful) looking books Aly - just shows you what you can find if you tidy your room, my lad!
ReplyDeleteIt’s nice when my ‘hard’ tidying work brings rewards Keith..😁
DeleteAll the best. Aly
It must have been a pleasant surprise to run across them--the chore of sorting and packing does have its rewards, sometimes.
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed a pleasant surprise Ed…
DeleteI of course needed to take a little break just to check that they were exactly what I needed… 😆
All the best. Aly
Ah yes - excellent booklets, and I too still have many of them. Almark produced some wonderful material. Yes, they were Part Works. I vividly remember in the summer of 1974 when I was working on an archaeological dig in the centre of Hull and sitting in the sunshine at lunchtime reading one of the Foot Guards booklets I'd just bought from Smiths. A happy memory!
ReplyDeleteThe only fault with some of the books is that the binding gives way…
DeleteThese however have been stapled rather than glued… so they should last.
Sitting in the sunshine reading about the Guards at Waterloo… What’s not to like 😁
All the best. Aly
Great timing for you. The Almark book on Napoleonic lancers is a happy occupation of space in my collection.
ReplyDeletePerfect timing indeed Joe…
DeleteI will keep an eye out at Partizan for that Napoleonic lancers book…
All the best. Aly
They are fantastic books Aly.
ReplyDeleteWillz.
They are indeed Willz…
DeleteAll the best. Alt

ReplyDeleteYes it was a very pleasant surprise Donnie…

I used to lust after Almark pub.s when young but they were priced out my reach. I've indulged in a few now I can easily afford them - they're good but don't live up to my imagination back then.
ReplyDeleteI still have the Almark books my dad bought me when I was a youngster…
DeleteThey are fairly fragile but still enjoyable to look through…
All the best. Aly
I love the Almark books. I have about a dozen of them and flick through them regularly even though the binding has gone on quite a few of them now.
ReplyDeleteThey are great little book aren’t they…
DeleteI wonder if it is possible to get them re-bound ?
I may ask around…
All the best. Aly
Very nice Aly sadly I only have the imperial guard volume, but I remember reading it avidly back in the 70’s. Hope to see you at Partizan 👍
ReplyDeleteThe Imperial Guard volume is partially good…
DeleteI will look out for you old chap…
All the best. Aly
Nice rediscovery! Had you already bought replacements?
ReplyDeleteA great rediscovery Jonathan…
DeleteNo I hadn’t bought replacements… but I have done that in the past with other Almark books…
I don’t mind though… They are not that pricey and it’s good to have a spare copy…Just in case 😁
All the best. Aly
I have a few of the Almark books somewhere, Peninsular War and Austrian armies if I recall. Excellent little books.
ReplyDeleteThat’s another two I will have to look out for 😆
DeleteThey are cracking little books indeed…
All the best. Aly
What a great find!
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed Ray…
