The War of Spanish Succession... Charles Churchill's Regiment of foot (The Buffs)

Another unit from the miniatures that I bought off my friend Adrian...

Charles Churchill's Regiment of Foot...(The Buff's).

The origins of the regiment lay in Thomas Morgan's Company of Foot, The London Trained Bands, which was in existence from 1572 to 1648.

During The War of Spanish Succession they were in action at...

The Battle of Blenheim... 1704.
The Battle of Ramillies... 1706.
The Battle of Oudenarde... 1708.

As with the Foot Guards the only work done on these was...

Tidy up a few chips...
Varnish the leather goods...
Re flag..
And rebase...

Another very pleasing unit...

I made the standards myself using the Robert Hall plate (G103) from the Pike and Shot Society only to realise that I had ordered one from Maverick Models...
Which turned out to be almost identical... never mind ... the practice will do me good...

The Pike and Shot Society.

The bases were, as always... Warbases.

The miniatures are... Front Rank.

And last but not least Maverick Models...

  5. Another great looking addition to your WSS collection Aly - The Buffs are always a good regiment to have in your army - I have two or three incarnations - certainly in AWI and again the War of 1812!

  7. Another splendid addition, nicely buffed. The Buffs were the first regiment I painted with Minifigs when I started an army all those years a go

  11. Very nice...I remember a re-fight of Blenheim at Blenheim Palace back in the 90's that Shep was part of...I expect these figures were there then.

    1. I don’t think these were made when we did that game...
The miniatures were mostly Wargames Foundry or Dixons as I recall...

  13. I'm sorry Aly - I've read this post a couple of times, and thought about it for a while. Let me get this straight - the concept here is of pre-owned units which required hardly any re-touching? No - sorry - that doesn't make any sense to me at all - I've never come across such a thing. Until now, I don't think I've even heard of anyone who has. I'll have to speak to my therapist about this.

While I'm working to get my head around it, let me say that they are absolutely lovely - a joy to behold. Thank you for sharing.
