ALY MORRISON'S "BUTTERFLY" ADVENTURES IN THE WORLD OF WARGAMES AND TOY SOLDIERS

Thursday 26 September 2019

From my side of the table... Korea 1592.

Greetings...

At the weekend three of our good friends from Hamburg came to Nottingham for a weekend of wargames, food and drink...

We managed to have three games in three days...

This is the first...

Korea 1529...

Alan Perry hosted this game...
The scenario was an attack on a Korean fort by four separate Japanese clans... each vying to get the highest part of the fort first...
Frank Becker... lead the Becker Clan.
Oliver Gommer... lead the Gommer Clan.
Frank Bauer... lead the Bauer Clan.
And I lead the... Morrison Clan.

As you can see all legendary samurai clans...

Michael Perry took the part of the Koreans...

Our starting positions...

Clan Morrison

More Clan Morrison

Clan Becker and Clan Gommer

Clan Bauer

Michaels Defenders

My stunningly beautiful cavalry await their moment of glory...

Michaels men brace themselves for my assault...

We start our advance...

The Reserve... Looking reserved.

As a pleasant surprise some Korean cavalry and very excited infantry appear behind us...

I send my stunningly beautiful cavalry forwards to confront them...
Things don't go quit how I had expected... Ah! those pesky dice gods...

Clan Becker throw their quite nice cavalry into the fray...

As my stunningly beautiful cavalry are pushed back across the bridge... I look on with growing despair... Ah!... those dice gods...

My men throw themselves ... somewhat reluctantly at the water filled spiky defences...

The defenders respond...
" I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries! "

The stunningly beautiful and quite nice cavalry... get stomped on... Sigh!

Clan Becker and Clan Gommer press home their attacks...
"Go and boil your bottoms, you sons of silly persons!"

Clan Bauer dip their toes in the water...

"We don't want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wipers!"

"Why is it taking so long?"
"They are using Pythonesque insults sire"
"We are fighting monsters and daemons...not men"

Clan Gommer breach the defences first...

My foot samurai start to recoil at the thought of being farted on...

Michaels men also start to fall back... The power of their insults weakened by arrows and pointed sticks..

Clan Becker breach the walls...

Still shaken by the threat of farts my men keep their distance...

"Hold your noses and charge... They won't dare follow through!"

Helped by the fact that Clan Becker had cleared the battlements for them...

My men finally make it into the fort...

"We are out of fresh insults sir!"
"Bugger!"

As Clan Bauer's cavalry burst through the castle gate... Michael decides all is lost... and with one last fart he surrenders...

A splendid game and a good start to the weekend...And my dice throwing was back to its usual high standard...

Our next game will be a "Paperboys" War of Spanish Succession scenario care of Peter Dennis...

All the best.  Aly

You also have the added bonus that in Nottingham a ‘Fart’ is referred to as a ‘Tump’...
