A Song of Drums and Shako's... A few new toys.

Greetings...

As Alan and Michael Perry have now posted images of the (few) new French plastics I have painted on their Facebook page...

I can now show a couple of pictures of my own...

I have painted these up as Voltigeurs and Grenadiers from The Chasseures de Montagne ...

I have always liked this uniform... I feel that the rich red brown and the sky blue go really well together...
And I have always fancied expanding my small Song of Drums and Shako's collection into the Spanish Peninsular...

There are a few more on the painting desk...
I have chosen to base these on round bases as they match with the way Alan Perry has done his...

All the best    Aly

  1. One cannot go wrong with French voltigeurs or grenadiers. They look wonderful.

  5. Lovely minis and painting. I also like combination of the rich brown with sky blue, which reminds me that I still have one more regiment of Austrian Grenzers to paint! :-)

Somewhat unsurprisingly I am also fond of the Austrian Grenzer uniform ;-)

  6. Apart from the fact that they are vile plastic abominations those are very nicely painted.

Manly metal they may not be... but they are very nice toys.

  7. Fine figures well rendered: very impressive! (from another appreciator of the brown/blue combination, as also found among Grenzers)

  8. Excellent - I also have a soft spot for this regiment. For no particular reason (other than perversity?) I also like to trot out the Garde de Paris in northern Spanish wargames. Mind you, I also have a liking for the Chasseurs Britanniques, so I am definitely odd.

Lovely painting. I have the Drums and Shakos books, but have never tried a game.

I also have some Garde de Paris on the painting desk.
I really like Drums and Shakos... you don’t need many miniatures and it gives you an enjoyable game.

  11. Lovely paint work on some nice looking plastic French which I will no doubt get as I don't fancy any more of the victrix plastics for the period, really, really fiddly, a little too detailed for wargames figures and you've done a great job on these chaps!

I do like the way that The Perrys are releasing a ‘Unit’ box and a ‘skirmish’ box... it gives you a few more options.
