Greetings…
This month continues without much hobby progress…
And to add to the building work disruption I have caught the latest office cold/cough… This one is a right sod, I haven’t had a good nights sleep this week, it’s been bad enough for me to actually take sick leave for the first time since I had Covid.🤧
So… Here are my 15mm Lombard Heavy Cavalry…
The Horses are painted… Citadel… Mournfang Brown…Then give a washes with various Contrast Colours Browns.
The Leather Bits are… Citadel… Deathclaw Brown.
The Blue Bits are… Citadel… Caledor Sky and Teclis Blue.
The Yellow Bits are… Foundry… Ochre 4B.
The Green Bits are… Citadel… Loren Green.
The Leggings are… Citadel… Administratum Grey.
The Spears are… Foundry… Spearshaft Light 13C.
As always everything was given a coat of Aly’s Brown Liquid and then highlighted with the original colours.
The figures are from Forged in Battle.

Sorry to hear about being KO'd by the cold and hope it clears up soon. Cracking work on the cavalry!
ReplyDeleteThank you Steve…
DeleteOn both counts 😁
All the best. Aly
Some lush Lombards you have turned out there Aly. Hope the lurgy clears, mine and Di's in particular still seems to be lurking though a legacy of lockdown perhaps?
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil…
DeleteThe lurgy is starting to lift now so hopefully I will be getting back to what I consider normal health.
All the best. Aly
Tough luck on the cold. Having enough energy to paint is bonus. Great looking horsemen.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan…
DeleteThese were painted a while ago… I have mostly been doing a bit of rebasing at the moment,
I should get back into proper painting this week.
All the best. Aly
Sorry to hear you’ve been I’ll, but only you could knock out such great figures while at deaths door!
ReplyDeleteThank you JBM…
DeleteSee my reply to Jonathan re when these were painted…
I always know when I am properly ill…. It’s when painting is the last thing I want to do…
All the best. Aly
Very nice looking figures Aly, I can understand the temptation to paint more! Hope your man flu is gone soon 🤧
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith…
DeleteThe man flu is slowly in retreat…
All the best. Aly
Arise now, arise, Riders of Théoden! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLovely unit Aly! Hope you are well now.
All the best,
Jan
Thank you Jan…
DeleteClearly the Lombards were inspired by the fashions and tactics of Middle Earth 😁
I am starting to feel better now.
All the best. Aly
Very jolly little chaps there. A good job you didn't choose Phlegm Green though for their colour in the circumstances...
ReplyDeleteThank you David…
DeleteIt’s a very useful and descriptive colour… but it has its place 😁
All the best. Aly
As said above, very Rohirric. Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stuart.
DeleteAll the best. Aly
I love that you have colour coded the Lombards and Carolingians. That will make a stunning army!
ReplyDeleteThank you David…
DeleteI thought that giving a particular colour scheme for each army would help my old eyes tell the difference on the battlefield.
All the best. Aly
We don't know why, but we would never have imagined a squadron of Lombard cavalry in blue... However, as has been said, this allows you to clearly distinguish against whom to charge on the battlefield, as soon as Charlemagne sends back home the daughter of King Desiderius and begins hostilities. Best wishes for your health: may your fight against the cold have a happier outcome than the war of the Lombards against the Franks!
ReplyDeleteI of course have no proof one way or the other that Lombards favoured blues and greens but I liked the idea of ‘army red’ and ‘army blue’…
DeleteCharlemagne will have plenty time to return Desiderius’s daughter while I paint up the rest of his army…
It looks like the cold is in retreat and I hope for a surrender this week.
All the best. Aly
Lovely job Aly! I'm contemplating using contrast browns for horses, interesting to see you've applied over a brown, will definitely give that a go, lots of 15mm Huns and Goths to wade through.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Meic
Thank you Meic…
DeleteUsing different shades of base colours also gives some nice variety to the horses…
All the best. Aly
Lovely looking Lombards! Glad to hear your feeling better too!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain…
