Greetings….
Another shiny thing…
The French 6th Regiment of dragoons… Deployed as infantry…
I got these lovely Garrison Foot Dragoons from Rob Young and absolute age ago… And typically when I decide to paint them my Sarcoidosis ( look it up if you must but take my word for it… it sucks. )decides to flair up and just for fun it has affected my right eye…
It is a condition that just keeps giving
They took a lot longer to paint than I thought they would….But I persevered and now they are done.
Maybe not as slick as I would want them to be…
Anyway…Here you go.
To add insult to injury as the varnish was drying on these I discovered that at the battle of Jena there were two composite regiments of Foot Dragoons that were attached to the Imperial Guard… Meaning I could have mixed the facing colours instead of just using red… Ha! Well… maybe next time 😁
The Tunics are… Foundry… Forest Green 26B.
The Breeches are… War Front (Scale Colour)… Braun SW28.
The Waistcoats are… Citadel… Pallid Wych Flesh.
The Gaiters are… Citadel… Corvus Black.
Everything was the given a wash of Aly’s Brown Liquid… Then highlighted with the original colours… some of the lighter colours were given an extra highlight…
The bases are as always…

I am going to take it easy for a while as my eye issues calm down…but I have some nice shiny Irish Legion on the go… plus all the other butterfly nonsense
All the best Aly
I have always liked Garrison and these look great to me
ReplyDeleteThank you Ross…

A splendid looking unit.
ReplyDeleteThank you Peter…

Sorry to hear about your health travails, I had to look it up and it does not sound nice at all, but back to shiny, they are very nice indeed. Garrison figures are really lovely and you have done a very fine job on them.
ReplyDeleteThank you Donnie…
DeleteShiny is infinitely better than sarcoidosis 😁
All the best. Aly
Despite your eye problems, you managed to complete a shining regiment. Dragoons on foot?! You never stop learning! If we looked carefully, we noticed that in your miniatures only the officer has the typical helmet decoration in (fake) leopard fur, while the troops have a generic brown fur - as in the artwork. Is this a simplification or was there really a difference in equipment?
ReplyDeleteThank you…
DeleteIn the Line Dragoon regiments only the officers wore the faux leopard skin ‘turbans’ on their helmets…
The Imperial Guard Dragoons however all wore the leopard skin.
All the best. Aly
You shouldn't beat yourself up about either the painting or the fact that they all have identical facings. They look gorgeous! As has already been said, Garrison figures are lovely and you've painted them magnificently.
ReplyDeleteAll the best and get well soon
Matthew
Thank you Matthew…
DeleteI reckon I now have a good excuse to paint more 😁…
All the best. Aly
Well even with your health problems they look damn fine to me Sir! I hope the flare up subsides soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil…
DeleteThings are improving…all be it slower than I would like.
All the best. Aly
Another fine addition and the dragoon helmets are a nice change from the shako.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear of your helth issue and hope you recover or are in remission soon.
all the best
Stephen
Thank you Stephen…
DeleteThinks are slowly improving…
All the best. Aly
Really lovely work Aly!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ian…

Lovely work Aly shiny as always 👍 and now you have me thinking I have quite a few unmounted dragoons from my Perry cavalry sets and didn’t know I could have them as a unit I need to rethink how I’m going to base them 🤔
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt…
DeleteThe foot dragoons were formed because of a lack of suitable horses… I think … at their peak… there were about 6000 of them.
All the best. Aly
Lovely shiny old school splendour! Hope the eye problem clears up soon.
ReplyDeleteNeil
Thank you Neil…

Sorry to hear you are crook, hope it clears up soon! These are not my cup of tea of course, but still look fine and ready to join your collection!
ReplyDeleteThank you David….

ReplyDeleteThank you Rick.

Hopefully that is a medical condition that can be treated and cured in time, Aly? The Foot Dragoons look good, I remember having a unit of Les Higgins figures, once upon a time, about 50 years ago!
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith…
DeleteAlthough not entirely curable sarcoidosis can be controlled/subdued with steroids… which seem to work well with me…
It is a swine when it flares up though 🙄
All the best. Aly
Look pretty damn good to me. You didn't go with a unit drawn from several regiments then?
ReplyDeleteThank you Rob…
DeleteThere was no way I was going to repaint the facings after I had varnished them… although I now have an excellent reason to paint more 😁
All the best. Aly
Dear Aly they look amazing and I hope you recover asap. Thanks for posting these love the colours and six figures on a base is classic
ReplyDeleteThank you Quinn…
DeleteI am on the mend…As we say around these parts 😁
All the best. Aly
I habe a soft spot for the dismounted Dragoon figures , I had a long time ago a similar group. Very nicely done. They will no doubt be gracing your table top soon.
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed lovely figures Joe…
DeleteI need to get some terrain made before I can play a game… which I am rather looking forward to…
All the best. Aly
Mow don't they look nice! Crackin brushwork Aly!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ray…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
To my eye, they look more than fine. Always good to find ways to get a unit like this on the table. Hope your vision issue clears up soon!

Looked it up - doesn't seem to be very nice! Hope it clears up soon. As for the figures - glad you like them, look good to me!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rob…
DeleteI avoid looking it up too often… but one thing is for sure …It’s not very friendly.
Unlike Garrison Foot Dragoons… which are lovely 😁
All the best. Aly
Sorry to hear about your eye problem Aly, but these minis are as slick as ever.
ReplyDeleteThank you JBM…
DeleteFortunately the drugs do work and things are slowly improving…

ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain…
DeleteYes fortunately the dugs do work…all be it slowly 😁
All the best. Aly
As always, a smashing battalion and tour de force of painting technique. I think it worth repeating however, that I hate you, as now I am going to have to find some extra figures and base mine up as a small battalion! :) Well, maybe not, they look really good in skirmish order...
ReplyDeleteThank you David…
DeleteI can think of worse things to be hated for 🤣
All the best. Aly
Aly, they look pretty damn slick to me.
ReplyDeleteThank you…
