Shiny Napoleonics… The Thuringian Battalion… Part 2

Greetings…

Yes!… I have indeed completed another stand for this project…

The Weimar Continent…

The figures are again slightly altered Minifigs NN7 Nassau Infantry.

Given how simple the uniform is, this stand has taken a ridiculous amount of time to finish.

I put this down to Real Life, Hot Weather and Work… All getting in the way.

That said…They are done and I am very pleased with them.

Two down… Two more to go… So finished by 2025😁.

The Tunics are… Foundry… Forest Green Shade 26B.
The Yellow bits are… AK Interactive… Volcanic Yellow AK11042.
The Trousers are… Citadel… Administratum Grey.

The paints were Citadel, Wargames Foundry and AK Interactive.

The bases are as always…

I have made a start to the next stand… Hopefully they will not take as long.

Having said that… The builders are due to return soon and my Butterfly is flexing its muscles at the moment 😁

All the best.   Aly

Britcon… 2024

Greetings…

This weekend saw the Britcon 2024 show in Nottingham…

Now I really like this show…

It’s in Nottingham… At the Nottingham Trent University building in the centre of town…

Very easy to get to… Trams and buses stop almost outside…

It’s free entry on Saturday and Sunday

Also it’s where my daughter studied Graphic Design and Illustration.

We both went on the Saturday… I did my usual thing of wandering around and buying a couple of things and then going back on the Sunday and buying more 😱…

There are a few gripes I could make… The lack of signage being the biggest… Although it was actually better this year than last…

Layout is another… But once again it is still an improvement on last year…

A hand out map would be a help here…

A bonus is that there are definitely more comfy chairs than you will find at Partizan…

I really appreciated this…

There is also a lift to all the different levels… I think you can guess my age group by the fact that these things are important 🤣.

I think it’s safe to say that this show is finding its feet… And I hope it will be back next year.

One of the bonus’s about being in the town centre is that you can pop out and find a decent restaurant within walking distance… Which is what Mharaid and I did on the Saturday… A restaurant called Gusto…I would recommend it to anyone…

Here are some of the few pictures I took…

I hope it reflects the day/days well enough…

The Perry’s French in Egypt game…

A very nice ‘What if’ Hundred Days battle.. From my old Wargames Club when I lived in Edinburgh..

An Indian Mutiny game from the Boondock Sayntes… A splendid affair with a lot of Jungle Book Easter Eggs scattered around the table.

These games were all to be found in the Wargames Illustrated area…

There was a Two Fat Lardies area but our need for food stopped us going in there.😋.

I was ‘In town’ on Sunday (today) so I popped in to pick up a couple of things I  had been pondering over…

Early doors on a hot Sunday…

It got busier…

My loot…

Well what do you expect…

I have some sample 15mm vehicles for the Desert War that I intend to paint up when I have set up a spray booth so having a simple guide to the campaign was an obvious thing to pick up.
This is one of my many ‘Next Year’ projects…

Civilians (Victims) and more Standards for the Wars of the Roses…
From Athena Miniatures…

Did I need any of this?

Of course not… But I really really wanted it 🤣🤣🤣

Not much painting at the moment… The mojo has taken a long Summer break 🙄.

From My Side of the Table… More Lion Rampant.

Greetings…

Last Friday four of us gathered together once more at Matt’s house for another game of Lion Rampant using our Wars of the Roses toys.

This time I joined forces with Matt… Jasper Tudor… I suspect the De La Pole family will be spinning in their graves… But it is the Wars of the Roses and loyalties are flexible…

We were up against Steven…Hastings…. and Alessandro… Somerset.

We used The Taxman Cometh scenario…

Each side had to collect as many ‘Tax’ counters as they could and with added points for destroying enemy units who ever had the most at the end of the game wins…

The ‘Tax’ counters are valued at 1,2 or 3 points  and are placed randomly on the table…

We set the game at 7-8 moves…

My men form up for battle/tax collecting…
Take note of the unit of archers at the bottom of the picture…
They liked it there… 🙄…

A view across at Hastings and Somerset… Boooo !

Jasper Tudor and his men….

Hastings… booo!

Me… Hurrah! Hurrah!…

My brave boys face off against Hastings dastardly cavalry….

Brave Jasper Tudor charges into town to save the day… And collect taxes… Which are of course going to be used to improve the infrastructure of this small community… Honest.
It didn’t end well…

Here are my archers… Where they were at the beginning of the game…I believe they are debating whether or not climbing through the hedge as it may ruin their nice new clothes….
This appears to have become a ‘thing’… Next thing you know there will be talk of  ‘Votes’… Whatever that is 🤔.

The utter swines have stolen our money/future development funds…

Jasper finds himself all alone as his men are … Dead 💀😳… He was to join them moments later.
It didn’t seem to bother the rest of his troop though… they continued to fight on . (They made their morale saves).

After a bit more fussing about… My archers manage to cross the hedge and joint the rest of my men…
They look quite intimidating… It’s a shame that they couldn’t hit a barn door at three paces.

Hastings and Somerset make a drive forward and capture a lot of ‘Tax’… Typical the rich stealing from the poor again… You certainly wouldn’t see the likes of us behaving like that…🙄

The villains meet up to count their ill gotten gains…

My brave Billmen dash in and rescue some of the village benevolent fund in the last minutes of the game…

The game played out really well
At the beginning Matt and I were rolling some of the worst dice ever… I’m sure we rolled a zero at one point…
By the end things improved for me a bit… But it was too late… The villains had grabbed most of the ‘Tax’…
When we turned our counters over all we had were ones… sigh!

Matt pointed out to me that I hadn’t taken many pictures of his very nice toys in the last game.

So here is a view from his side of the table…

Matt/Tudor did all he could to drive his men forwards towards Somerset’s men but he was continually thwarted by the fickle gods of dice…
He was however glorious and went down fighting… They can’t take that away from him…

Or can they 😈.

All the best.  Aly
