Greetings…
A few weeks ago we had a little game of Bolt Action round at Matt’s house… The idea was to have a little introduction game for a couple of the youngsters who hadn’t played it before.
Matt set up a little scenario at a crossroads involving infantry and armour…
A second group sneak up on the crossroads…
No enemy to be seen as yet…
Time for the armour to get involved… With a couple of brilliant misses. 🙀
Dashing into a house…We make brilliant targets… again 😳.
My men enter the church… Only to be shot down by a hidden enemy using hand grenades and machine guns…Probably in slow motion like a scene from a Sam Peckinpah movie…
We decide it was Beer O’ Clock.
This was a fun evening as we tried out different things to show off the rules… The vague plan is to get proficient at Bolt Action and then move onto another set of rules and do the same.
All the best. Aly

Looks like an entertaining introduction to BA.
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed Jonathan…

Looks fun - I’ve never played it but always been tempted.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of fun….It’s well worth a game.

Good looking game Aly, looks like it was a fun game too.
ReplyDeleteIt was certainly a good introduction to for the youngsters…

Nice stuff Aly…… very elegant rules in my view and normally provide a fun and enjoyable game 👍
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt..
DeleteYes they certainly gave us a fun and enjoyable game.
All the best. Aly
A much maligned set of rules which is great to get the younger folk into the period. You just have to dissuade them from using some of the ridiculous "special rules"😉
ReplyDeleteThe basic rules are easy to learn so allow you to get playing quickly…
DeleteWe avoided “special rules” 😁
All the best. Aly
Some beautiful figures and terrain on show Aly. How did you like BA?
ReplyDeleteThe toys and terrain are all Matt’s….
DeleteI enjoy Bolt Action… The games have always been fun.
All the best. Aly
Typical shoddy Nazi trick...
ReplyDeleteBut they don’t like it up them…😁

Bolt Action is a fine game, just needs playing by folk who know a little of WWII tactics and capabilities. I like the idea of your vague plan.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed a fine game but yes I can see how it could be played “out of character “
DeleteWe have always tried to play the period and not just the “rules”
All the best. Aly
Nice intro game to the rules. From the quips it sounds like like our group playing. Great looking terrain.
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed a nice introduction…
DeleteAs a group we tend not to take things too seriously 😁
All the best. Aly
That looked wonderful Aly and retelling it solely from your point of view kept us in 'suspenders' knowing only half of the story until; 'surprise'! Marvellous.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, James
Thank you James I’m glad you enjoyed it…
DeleteI was so involved in playing they game I didn’t really get many pictures of the enemy… so the one sided report sprung from that.
It came out a lot better than I expected and certainly reflected a feeling of heading into the unknown.
All the best. Aly
Sounds and looks like a lovely game!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
It was indeed Iain…

Good stuff, if I recall correctly you were painting up German Paratroopers and Home Guard at some stage, it would be good to see your version of an Operation Sealion game!
ReplyDeleteThe Dads Army stuff is still on the go…
DeleteI have some lovely Bad Squiddo figures in the painting queue…
I really need Terrain and vehicles though…
All the best. Aly
Excellent - looking forward to seeing it!
