Lion Rampant... Sassanid Cataphracts.

Greetings...
I have now finished another unit...
This time it is some more Sassanid Cataphracts...

Everything has been painted in my usual manner...
Citadel Contrast brown shades for the horses...
Block colours for the rest followed by an Aly's Brown Liquid wash... then highlighted.

The previous unit had a blue theme to it so I have gone pink/red this time...

Tunics, Trousers and Cloth Barding... Citadel.... Mephiston Red, Wazdaka Red or Pink Horror.
Leather Goods... Citadel... Skrag Brown or Doombull Brown.
The Yellow bits are... Foundry... Ochre 4B.
The Kontos is... Citadel... Evil Sunz Scarlet.

The bases are unfinished... I will probably be doing this in a couple of batches after I have got a few more units painted.

I really like the way the colour theming on these has come together....

I think that the next Cataphract unit will have a green theme...

Shiny Napoleonics... 3rd (Dutch) Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard

Greetings...
Here we have another unit for this project...

The 3rd (Dutch) Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard...

I have used a slightly different painting style for these... I know...I will settle down soon...

I undercoated the figures with... Citadel Corax White... Then gave them a wash of Contrast Apothecary White...
Everything was highlighted with Corax White... Then given another highlight with Corax White plus some pure white...
Plumes and Epaulets are... Citadel... Evil Sunz Scarlet... Which was given a diluted wash of... Contrast Blood Angel Red... This was highlighted with Evil Sunz Scarlet...
Facings... Citadel... Wazdaka Red.
Backpack and Musket... Citadel... Mournfang Brown.
Greatcoat... Citadel... Caledor Sky.
Straps were blocked in with Corax White then painted pure white...

The bases are from Warbases...
https://warbases.co.uk/

And the Standards are from GMB Designs...
https://gmbdesigns.com/product-category/28mm-range/28mm-range-napoleonic-wars/

I ended up using more flat colours than I would normally as I wanted the shading on the white to stand out a bit... it has come out quit subtle...
Overall I am rather pleased with these toys...

Next up... more Sassanids...

Lion Rampant... Roman Infantry

Yet another unit for this project...
Some more Roman Infantry...

This unit is made up from the men that were left over from my re-basing...
I have added spears and new shields so that they now represent Auxiliaries...

Lion Rampant... Sassanid Light Cavalry.

Here is my latest unit for my Lion Rampant 3rd Century Rome project...

Sassanid Light Horse with Javelins (and Bows)...

The horses were painted using a couple of coats of Citadel Contrast Colours Gore-Grunta Fur

over... Army Painter Brown Fur

The tunics are... Citadel... Pallid Wytch Flesh.
The Trousers are... Citadel... Lothern Blue.
The Leather work is a mixture of... Citadel... Skrag Brown and Doombull Brown.

Everything(except the horses ) was given a coat of Aly's Brown Liquid and highlighted with their original colours...
Once matte varnished the metal parts were glossed and the leather was given a coat of Tamiya Clear Orange...

I have an idea for the basing... so hopefully that will get done soon.

Shiny Napoleonics... Neapolitans and Prussians.

Greetings...

Still not getting enough painting in at the moment...

I have cleaned up some Sassanid light cavalry and they are ready to be sprayed a nice shade of brown so I can start work on the horses...
Unfortunately some idiot forgot to buy some suitable brown spray... Ha! well...

Fortunately I have some images of the last two units that I have painted up as test pieces for my Shiny Napoleonics project...

First up the Neapolitan 8th Infantry Regiment...

These are later Lamming Miniatures with Minifigs Command...
I also added short swards and pompoms to the flank companies...

I have to admit that originally I wasn't to pleased with these... I felt that the painting style didn't fit with what I had already done... I have however grown to like them...

Next up the Prussian 1st Guards regiment.

Now I am really pleased with these... They are pretty much what I want from this collection...

They are a mixture of S Range and Intermediate Range Minifigs... and were a joy to paint.

Okay... Not everyone's taste... But they make me smile... and that is in the end all that matters.
