Greetings...
Some of you may have noticed that Alan Perry has been posting the account of the ongoing Potomac Campaign that was started last year... which of course has been paused because of circumstances beyond our control.
I must say it is nice to see what was happening away from my own area of command... it’s also good to see that he could remember what actually happened, it’s pretty much lost in the mists of time as far as I am concerned...
Go here for a full account of The Battle of Charles Town...
https://www.facebook.com/perryminiatures/
The only evidence I can find of the day is a short and almost certainly very accurate statement from my glorious commander...
“Although vastly outnumbered we fought like lions and I am convinced that when we left the field of battle we were clearly the victors” General Ebenezer Leonidas Luckless the Third. |
Here are some images from the day... I shall leave the narrative to those with sharper memories...
Luckless shall return...
All the best Aly
What a beautiful looking game, as one would expect from the Perry's & Co, so thanks for sharing:).
ReplyDeleteIt was a pleasure to share Steve...
DeleteAnd to take part đ
All the best. Aly
Excellent Sir, Excellent
DeleteThank you…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
What gaming should look like!
ReplyDelete"My dear General Luckless,
Thank you for the updated report on your battle winning efforts.
Signed with deepest respect,
General R.V. Wrinkles."
Thank you good sir...
DeleteMy memory has become clearer of late and I can now assure you the we were indeed without doubt glorious and victorious...
Yours... Luckless
The pictures are just a joy! I like your Photoshopped General, very suitable!
ReplyDeleteThank you David...
DeleteThe photoshop was by Alan... he has created a new one for each of us at the beginning of every campaign ...
All the best. Aly
Great looking games as always! Keep on rolling well Gen. Luckless!
ReplyDeleteBtw. I can’t believe that today is one year since we played the pre-campaign game! Time flies!
Best wishes,
Jan
It is hard to believe isn’t it Jan...
DeleteAlthough sometimes it feels like it was only yesterday...
It has indeed been a strange year... hopefully we will get to see you next year...
All the best. Aly
I would be prepared to lose every battle to play with those toys on that splendid table. Wait! I lose all the while anyway đ
ReplyDeleteStrange, I thought it was me who lost mostly this year...đ
DeleteSee I am that used to losing that I forget when I winđ
DeleteIt would appear that I am in splendid company... đ
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Superb game photos, Aly!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan...
DeleteApart from rolling terrible dice this is my only creative input...
All the best. Aly
Lovely lovely looking game đ
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed Matt...
DeleteI’m looking forward to when we can get back into it...
All the best. Aly
As one would expect from your mates the Perrys Aly - stunning figures and beautiful terrain - a visual feast, and we don't really need to know what happened in the game!
ReplyDeleteAs I am not that sure what happened in the game either... we are all in the same boat...đ
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Brilliant Aly. I always enjoy those posts from the Perry twins and you do always feature prominently! Excellent stuff.
ReplyDeleteIs prominently another word for loose... đ
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Seems like a long time ago - the wargame campaign I mean - not the American Civil War. Great to read what was happening elsewhere at last - yes I can only imagine Alan takes notes after each game as I certainly can't remember how things played out even in the battles I took part in. Other than that I have a clear and abiding memory that we were gloriously victorious; I remember that quite vividly :)
ReplyDeleteYes the campaign certainly feels like the distant past...
DeleteUnfortunately Rick I think your memory must be playing tricks on you... or possibly you are spreading “fake news” or are in fact trying to ‘steal’ the campaign...
My memory is perfectly clear on this(or soon will be)... I have no recollection whatsoever of my men retreating let alone running away... we were victorious in all our encounters... đ
All the best... Aly
Always good to see the view from the other side Aly, or should I say Ebenezer? I must say from that photo you have turned a bit grey during this COVID nonsense. You could do with a bit of a tonic I think.
ReplyDeleteYes and I seem to have started wearing two hats...
DeleteActually I think that there was a Union general who wore two hats...
Lovely looking game and I'm sure you were your usual lucky self! The ACW can't have been that long ago, my grandad was born just 4 years after the end, so no can't be that long ago at all!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
I am reliably unreliable Iain...
DeleteYou can travel back a long way in just a couple of generations... my Great Grandfather fought in the Crimean War...
While I just feel old enough to have been there đ
All the best. Aly
There should be another Great in there... I’m not that old đ
DeleteLooks great.
ReplyDeleteA hell of a queue for the bogs in picture 13.
It’s all the beans...
DeleteWow. Jealous! lol ... you are very lucky to get to play such beautiful games!!
ReplyDeleteI am indeed a lucky fellow Jay...
DeleteMind you ... you put on some splendid games yourself
All the best. Aly
Sensational looking game Aly. Better luck in the next phase!
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
It was indeed James...
DeleteI sometimes find myself just looking at the table and the toys when I should be moving troops...
I seem to recall that I did better in my next game... or as Luckless himself would say... “I do not recall running away”
All the best. Aly
