Ooop!…
While doing what some may refer to a ‘maintenance’… I may have stopped everyone from posting comments… I clicked a button to see what it did 🙄.
Actually I was trying to find a way of stopping ‘Spam’…
Bloggers ‘Mark as Spam’ doesn’t seem to be very effective as it doesn’t appear to block the sender.
This has now been fixed… but I have now activated comment approval… I will see how I get on with this.
My apologies to anyone who may have had problems commenting…
All the best Aly
I’ve always thought that calling it Spam was unfair…
I have fond memories of my mums Spam Fritters 😁
There used be a reporting mechanism which has long since disappeared, that did actually work. I trialled approval but found it took up more of my time than removing the spamming b*+#@ds comments.
ReplyDeleteThey never seem to make anything easier…do they.
DeleteEvery time I see the word Spam I'm transported back to the horror that was school dinners !
ReplyDeleteYes… I imagine school dinner Spam was a different beast all together…
DeleteSorry if I do spam you with comments ;-)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Jan
Yeah!… you with your kind comments and support!
DeleteI will be watching you… 😂😂😂
That's why since last night we tried in vain a dozen times to post our comment !!! Now I'm going to post immediately, this time without problems (hopefully) ...
ReplyDeleteMany apologies…
DeleteHopefully everything will work okay now…
I've never technically eaten Spam though I suspect that it is probably very similar to the Prem luncheon meat in a tin that I grew up on except Prem was tasty, esp if fried or mixed with chopped pickles in a sandwhich!
ReplyDeleteSplendid Ross…
DeleteIt looks like Canada and my mum understood the qualities of Spam.
No wonder part of our family moved to Alberta…😁
Good God, fried spam as a kid in the 1970's brings back many memories! I can't say I liked them, even when very crispy, as I found them too fatty and rich. I believe spam is loved in Korea as a result of the GI's taking spam with them during the Korean War and thereafter.
ReplyDeleteAs for Spammers, I set up comment moderation, which has worked OK so far. I still get the odd one or two which I then block. A paint to have to do it but 'tis the way of the World these days:(
Yup! In a lot of ways…
DeleteSpecial
Processed
American
Meat
Says it all…
But with a bit of imagination it can be nice…
It still sells now.. sales have apparently hit a record high for the 7th year in a row…
Well over 8 Billion tins have been sold since it was ‘invented’…
There is a Spam museum in Minnesota…
And… ok here is the wargaming/military link…
In his memoir Nikita Khrushchev declared “Without Spam we wouldn’t have been able to feed our army”
There you go… all this information because I clicked the wrong button 😂😂😂
As for spammers… deep frying is too good for them…
All the best. Aly
And I always though SPAM was a contraction of 'Spiced Ham.' I still like it fried or scrambled with eggs.
DeleteSo did I Jonathan…
DeleteUntil I looked it up 😁
Totally agree with you Aly that "they" never do make anything easier or better. Almost all changes to operating systems etc in the last ten to fifteen years have just been changes, not improvements!
ReplyDeleteChange for the sake of change… the curse of the modern world 🙄
DeleteCouple of tins of Spam in the larder now. Quite nice fried.
ReplyDeleteMy current issue is that my blog archive has suddenly decided that it won't open the headings of all the entries for a given month - they have to be individually highlighted! Always something happening!
Which sort of gave me the incentive to start messing with the app and sort it!
DeleteI hope you keep the Spam beside your Fray Bentos pies 😁…
DeleteI think I have caused enough trouble as it is… I shall resist ‘messing’ for the moment 😁
All the best. Aly
I was hoping for a shiny Napoleonic post 🙁 anyway I have noticed a slight increase in spam on my blog so if you find a solution let us know 👍
ReplyDeleteFunny you should say that Matt…
DeleteI do have a couple of shiny toys in the pipeline…
All the best. Aly
