Greetings…
So… A shiny interlude…
While I have had various shades of blue on my brush I have been painting another Union unit for my Shiny American Civil War project…
The Trousers are… Citadel… Hoeth Blue.
The Snap Sacks are… Foundry… Charcoal Black Light 34C.
The Guns are… Citadel… Mournfang Brown.
The Water Bottles are… Citadel… Russ Grey.
The White bits are… Citadel Pallid Wych Flesh.
The Blanket Rolls are… Citadel Administratum Grey.
The Leather Goods are Black.
As always everything was given a coat of Aly’s Brown Liquid and highlighted with the original colours.
The figures are from Jacklex…

The bases are as always from Warbases…

The paints are Wargames Foundry and Citadel...

I have flagged these up as a Pennsylvanian unit… the flags were once again from the old Flags for the Lads range over painted…
Next up will probably be more War of 1812…
All the best Aly

Shiny ACW, indeed! Nice work, Aly.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan…
DeleteI do like the shiny..
All the best. Aly
Very fine Aly, whenever I see your shiny ACW I am always reminded of Discovering Wargames, I must dig my copy out and have a little wallow in nostalgia.
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil…
DeleteI have a copy of that stashed away somewhere… I must have a wee look myself.
All the best. Aly
Very nice Aly lots of blue and shiny 👍
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt…
DeleteI must do some grey and shiny soon…
All the best. Aly
A wonderful and traditional looking unit.
ReplyDeleteThank you Peter…

Shiny little chaps of the one true period!
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed one of my favourite periods…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Shiny has such a nice 'Old School' feel about it...
ReplyDeleteDoesn’t it just…
DeleteAlthough hopefully people will start to think of it as Shiny New School…
All the best. Aly
Lovely shiny ACW! Nice big flags too!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain…
DeleteI do like a good sized flag…
All the best. Aly
Mine eyes have seen the glory! These look just 'Bully' or something like that, just right!
ReplyDeleteI only have a few Jacklex ACW, but I do need more guns....
Thank you Ross…
DeleteI am curious to see if they fit with Airfix ACW…
All the best. Aly
More gorgeous brushwork. Very nice mate!
ReplyDeleteThank you JBM…

You know I prefer your other work Aly - War of 1812 for example- but they certainly are shiny and the style/sculpting/poses of the figures remind one of the late sixties, which I assume is the point of this nostalgia?
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed shiny Keith…
DeleteThere is a fair bit of nostalgia… but to be honest I never had any Jacklex ACW when I was a lad… lots of Airfix though…
Reliving a childhood I never had?
I also really like the style of these early ranges…which certainly makes them easy to paint.
All the best. Aly
Those figures look great and the rosy cheeks really makes the 'toy soldier' look 'pop'.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rod…
DeleteYour keen eye spotted the cheeks… I thought I would see how it looked on these… it’s not something I have done on the Napoleonics…
All the best. Aly
A shining example to us all, Aly. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteThank you Matthew…
DeleteIf you ever tire of Napoleonics you should give it a try…
All the best. Aly
No unit in the ACW ever looked this good! Nice inspiration for all us former colonials.
ReplyDeleteThank you David…
DeleteWar of 1812… ACW… you would think that I liked American uniforms.
All the best. Aly
Very nice job, beautiful Old School soldiers Aly!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil…

Adorable miniatures with a vintage toy soldier style: in this case the red cheeks and the shiny finish are a must! Are they sold individually or in packs of several miniatures?
ReplyDeleteThank you…
DeleteThey do indeed come to life with a coat of gloss varnish.
The figures are sold separately.
All the best. Aly
Another nice unit Aly. So two units down, is this the start of an army?
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark…
DeleteIt certainly is the start of an army… Two in fact… they will need someone to shoot at.
All the best. Aly
I really like the look of those Jacklex 'air guitarists'. Top painting from you, comme d'habitude.
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thank you James…
DeleteIt’s certainly seems that this was a popular pose back in the day…😁
All the best. Aly
