Shiny American Civil War… The second Union unit…

Greetings…

So… A shiny interlude…

While I have had various shades of blue on my brush I have been painting another Union unit for my Shiny American Civil War project…

The miniatures are once again from Jacklex Miniatures…

I have decided that if possible I will only use Jacklex for this project… They have a style that I find really pleasing…

The Tunics are… Citadel… Kantor Blue plus some Caledor  Sky.

The Trousers are… Citadel… Hoeth Blue.

The Snap Sacks are… Foundry… Charcoal Black Light 34C.

The Guns are… Citadel… Mournfang Brown.

The Water Bottles are… Citadel… Russ Grey.

The White bits are… Citadel Pallid Wych Flesh.

The Blanket Rolls are… Citadel Administratum Grey.

The Leather Goods are Black.

As always everything was given a coat of Aly’s Brown Liquid and highlighted with the original colours.

The figures are from Jacklex…

The bases are as always from Warbases…

The paints are Wargames Foundry and Citadel...

I have flagged these up as a Pennsylvanian unit… the flags were once again from the old Flags for the Lads range over painted…

Next up will probably be more War of 1812…

All the best   Aly

  2. Very fine Aly, whenever I see your shiny ACW I am always reminded of Discovering Wargames, I must dig my copy out and have a little wallow in nostalgia.

  9. Mine eyes have seen the glory! These look just 'Bully' or something like that, just right!

I only have a few Jacklex ACW, but I do need more guns....

  11. You know I prefer your other work Aly - War of 1812 for example- but they certainly are shiny and the style/sculpting/poses of the figures remind one of the late sixties, which I assume is the point of this nostalgia?

    1. They are indeed shiny Keith…
There is a fair bit of nostalgia… but to be honest I never had any Jacklex ACW when I was a lad… lots of Airfix though…
Reliving a childhood I never had?
I also really like the style of these early ranges…which certainly makes them easy to paint.

  12. Those figures look great and the rosy cheeks really makes the 'toy soldier' look 'pop'.

Your keen eye spotted the cheeks… I thought I would see how it looked on these… it’s not something I have done on the Napoleonics…

  16. Adorable miniatures with a vintage toy soldier style: in this case the red cheeks and the shiny finish are a must! Are they sold individually or in packs of several miniatures?

They do indeed come to life with a coat of gloss varnish.

      The figures are sold separately.

It certainly is the start of an army… Two in fact… they will need someone to shoot at.
