Greetings…
Hopefully you will remember me buying some 15mm ‘ Dark Age’ figures…
Well I have finished a couple of test figures…
For the Carolingians I have gone for reds… very ‘classic’ Roman…
And for the Lombards I have gone for blues…
Because the toys are quite small I wanted to create two very different paint schemes that can be easily identifiable on the tabletop…
These fellows were a joy to paint…the clean lines and clear detail made it a quick job…
I am not sure when I will start painting the armies… but I am looking forward to starting the project…
The figures are from Forged in Battle…
I have some more 40mm on the go and there will be something shiny very soon…
All the best. Aly.
Well they certainly pass the the test, very swish indeed.

Lovely Carolingians! Forged in Battle have some great ranges.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cyrus…
DeleteThey do indeed and they are all very tempting…
All the best. Aly
Very nice Aly are you thinking massed units ? Or skirmish on a smaller scale
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt…
DeleteI am thinking Hail Caesar…
All the best. Aly
Oh now they look very nice Aly. I used to absolutely adore 15mm ancient and medieval wargaming and still have a few original armies. These figures of yours reminded me do much of done really enjoyable games.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carlo…
DeleteWhen I got into playing wargames seriously my armies were all 15mm… so it’s a real blast from the past…
All the best. Aly
Always liked the stories of that era - the Song of Roland was a favourite of mine. Looks like an excellent project.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rob…
DeleteThere is a fantastical feel about the era…
All the best. Aly
Excellent results, I like the idea of red and blue themed forces as well certainly won’t get confused. Looking forward to seeing how this pans out
ReplyDeleteThank you Graham…
DeleteYes the themed armies will make things easy for us older gamers… 😁
All the best. Aly
I read the title and thought "WTF!" .....I HAD forgotten this purchase! Very nice work on them, needless to say, Aly. The colour coordinated armies will help the oldies keep track of what's going on too 😆
ReplyDeleteActually I still think “WTF!”…😂
DeleteAnd yes the colour coordinated are to assist us oldies…
All the best. Aly
Nice little chaps! Looking forward to seeing hordes of them! Oh, and more 40mm chaps!
ReplyDeleteThank you David…
DeleteHopefully there will be hordes of them… and there will definitely be more 40mm…
All the best. Aly.
Quite a change of pace to see 15mm in these parts. They look splendid--I can only imagine the effect when they're done up in units.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ed… a change is as good as a holiday…as they say.
DeleteHopefully the units will come up to your expectations.
All the best. Aly
Beautiful done figures
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark…

Lovely figures Aly, I also find Forged in Battle a pleasure to paint. Looking forward to seeing this project develop. What rules are you thinking of using?
ReplyDeleteThank you Meic…
DeleteMy initial thoughts were Hail Caesar…
All the best. Aly
A splendid looking pair of prototypes! I look forward to their future companions!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain…
DeleteI am tempted to start painting the armies over the Xmas break… That is unless my butterfly lands on another blossom 😂
All the best. Aly
Nooooooo! The butterfly strikes again. Lovely figures, if only they were bigger... :) In truth I hope to get back to some 15s before too long. I have some Sarmatians and some sub Roman British that have been waiting for paint for far too many years.
ReplyDeleteI have set my butterfly free and it has found many pretty toys 😁
DeleteIt has been a long long time since I have painted a lot of 15’s…
I am hoping it will be an enjoyable experience.
Sarmatians sound nice…
All the best. Aly
Flutter, flutter…lovely work Aly.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark … flutter flutter flutter🦋
