Greetings …
As I have been preparing for this year’s Boxing Day game…
I thought I would do a little ‘Snow and Tell’ ( I know you probably deserved a better title than that 🤣) Stage by stage on making Snowmen…
It’s really easy…
A 15mm wooden bead.
A 25mm wooden bead.
A 25mm 2mm MDF Base.
Some Wire… And Green Stuff Putty ( Not Shown)
File down the two surfaces of the beads that you want to glue… A flat surface gives a better glue join.
Stick bead to bead… Then using a bit of Green Stuff stick beads to the base… This also gives a good join and allows you to tilt the body of the Snowman if you wish.
Glue in wire and bend to shape… Accuracy is not an issue here… If it looks good then it is fine… It’s a Snowman.
Add Green Stuff to build up the arms, the nose and the gun…
I realised that I had made this guy and some of his new friends a bit beefier in the arms than my earlier versions… But that is no matter… All Snowmen are unique.
Lastly but by no means least paint him…
Keep it clean and simple…
You would be surprised how many expressions you can get out of a few lines…
Just look at Emojis for inspiration…😟😣☹️😕😏😑🫤😐😵😮😶😦…
You can add further variations by making one eye bigger than the other or by changing the colour of the nose.
Then apply the varnish of your choice…
These fellows are very easy and a lot of fun to make…
And then you can give them away to friends…Or even better include them in a Christmas/ Boxing Day Game…
All the best. Aly

An excellent crafters tutorial for the holidays. I particularly appreciate the matter of fact inclusion of the gun 😀. Gotta love this hobby!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ed…
DeleteHe could of course have had a spear… Or a pointed stick… Or an axe… 😁.
All the best. Aly.
Great work Aly - do some of them have "carrot" noses too?
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith…
DeleteCarrot noses are an option…🥕🥕🥕.
All the best. Aly
We like Drinky's best friend, even if his expression as a soldier doesn't suggest valid help on the battlefield... Easy and fun to make. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you…
DeleteBut this is not Drinkys new best friend… He is just another brave Snowsoldier… You will know Drinkys friend when you see him 😁
All the best. Aly
He looks great Aly and as you demonstrate fairly easy to put together ? Of course I suspect it may be harder for us mortals 🙂
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt…
DeleteI suspect you could make Snowmen faster than me…

That's a cunning use of craft pieces...and here was I thinking that they were been carefully sculpted from Greenstuff...
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark…
DeleteI had made a couple out of Green Stuff and then realised that the bead makers had done all the hard work for me 😁.
All the best. Aly
