Very nicely done Commanders Aly, Is there a reason why one has two figures - a higher level of Command? You are making me feel I should get back to my Balaclava project.
Thank you Greg… Yes I wanted to try and represent the different command levels.. One figure for a regiment , two for brigade and probably three for anything higher…
Splendid commanders! I like the casual reference to two Jaeger battalions. I've just finished my second such, which it seems I had been painting for eons...
Thank you David… Yes two more Jäger battalions and then some guns and that will be all the Russians I have rebased… I will probably have a little rest before either starting on the British I have or painting some Russian cavalry…
We love these miniatures, especially the couple on the same base, which you have arranged as if they were engaged in a realistic conversation. We suppose the different colour of the coats and the shape of the helmets have a specific meaning - but what?? Once again we show off our ignorance without shame! ;)
Thank you… The Russian costs were mass produced in different factories/depots so there would probably be a lot of variation in the colour of the cloth… The head gear is a full dress helmet… the one with the plume… a standard helmet and forage caps… All could or would have been worn… Officers tended to make their own decisions on what to wear… especially when on campaign.
I haven’t really decided on what rule to use Rob… Probably Black Powder… but I have chosen to base in a way that will be flexible enough to work with most rules… 4 stands = A large unit 3 stands = A medium/standard unit 2 stands = A small unit And if you needed to 1 stand = A tiny unit.
Splendid figures, equally splendidly rendered. It's too bad that all the figures lines for the Crimea (that I'm aware of) have all the Russians in greatcoats. It would be nice to have the option of putting some on the table in "Chocolate Box" fashion.
Short, but sweet, pot there Aly! The command figures look impressive!
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith…
DeleteIt was a short and sweet job to do.
All the best. Aly
Straightforward but looking very grand nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Aly, your work inspires me to push a unit of Russians towards the painting queue.
DeleteThank you Phil…
DeleteIt made a nice change from all the infantry…
I look forward to seeing your Russians Jonathan.

You may have already said, but if so I missed it, what rules are these being re-based for?
