Greetings …
It’s time for more Shiny Napoleonics…
This time we have Dragoon Regiment Number 2 (1st West Prussian Dragoon Regiment)…
A bit of a mouthful…I know… It would appear that the Prussian Army had a very precise naming protocol… 😁
These are all ‘ Current Range ‘ Minifigs figures…
I have found it quite difficult to find any S Range Dragoons so I decided to go for these…
They are not as chunky as I remember them and they mix quite well with the older toys…
I have added a couple of figures painted up as ‘Freiwillinger Jägers’… They really need to have carbines but I couldn’t find any the right size… If and when I do they will be added to the figures .
The Coats are… Citadel… Hoeth Blue.
The Jäger Coats are … Foundry… Forest Green 26B.
The Grey Bits are … AK Interactive… English Grey AK 11020.
The White Bits are… Citadel… Pallid Wych Flesh.
As always everything was given a coat of Alys Brown Liquid and then re highlighted with the original colours.
Once again my choice of unit has been influenced by the beautiful work of Matthew from The Hinton Spieler…

Did you ever think that you would would become a genuine influencer old chap 🤣😂🤣…
It was finding Matthews blog that helped set me off on this wonderful journey…And I thank him for this.
The addition of the Russo-Germans and Von Lützow’s are down to him and now we must add these Dragoons… Hurrah!
Keep up the good work….What are you doing next ???
All the best Aly
"It would appear that the Prussian Army had a very precise naming protocol…" WELL, who would have ever imagined THAT - Prussians being precise !
ReplyDeleteNice looking Minifigs Aly!
Thank you Keith…
DeleteIt is indeed hard to believe 😁
All the best. Aly
Lovely work, they really look great, the Minifigs look the part, new figures but still with that "old school" vibe, nice to see the jaegers as well. Super stuff!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Donnie…

Sharp looking horsemen! Love the blue.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan…

These are very nice indeed. The naming protocol makes sense once you get your head around it but it is wordy.
ReplyDeleteI've never had any Napoleonic Prussians [except the handful repurposed as Poles in the 1830 Insurrection] but as a school boy I used to wargame at a friend's house in the aptly named hamlet of Waterloo which is in Suffolk. He had a Hinchcliffe Prussian Dragoon officer who was turned in the saddle with one hand resting on the horse's crupper. Of all his troops it was the one I liked best [apart from the Minifig ADCs I painted for him!]. Perhaps you could find one and see if you like it too.
Goodness that was a long time ago. WRG rules at his house, Grant's at mine.
Stephen
Thank you Stephen…
DeleteIt’s nice to see that the shiny toys are bringing back good memories…
I will keep a look out for that figure…
All the best. Aly
Super shiny stuff painted with Teutonic precision Herr Von Morrison.
ReplyDeleteVielen Dank, Herr Robinson…
DeleteAnother lovely dose of shiny. I hope these lads are on display and not sequestered in some dusty old box.
ReplyDeleteThank you JBM…
DeleteFor the moment they will live in a box… But when the (endless) building work is done they will be put in display cases.
All the best. Aly
Very nice, you have done them proud. The blue is a great choice for the coat. The regimental names actually follow a pattern, at least for the infantry
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe…
DeleteI don’t think it helped that my references for this unit were in German 😁
All the best. Aly
WM has a lot to answer for - his blog was what got me into painting up vintage 20mm Napoleonics! But just adore the little fellas.
ReplyDeleteYup!…A genuine influencer 😁
DeleteDefinitely my favourite collection.
All the best. Aly
Now that's the way to paint Minifigs! They do look more slender than I remember - not a fat bottomed horse in sight...
ReplyDeleteThank you Ian…
DeleteThe dark colours help a lot…
I would probably describe the horse’s backsides as square (ish) rather than fat… I suppose you could file them down a bit… But to be honest life is to short for that 😁
All the best. Aly
The consistency the pair of you achieve in the saddle cloth stripes is insane.. it's alchemy I tell you, alchemy and witchcraft!.
ReplyDeleteEither that or jealousy.
If you haven't already guessed I like them.
Thank you Matt…
DeleteYou have guessed correctly… It’s witchcraft 😈
It’s one of the reasons I’m doing the cellar up… The coven needs somewhere to meet…and paint.
All the best. Aly
Those are really rather splendid.
ReplyDeleteThank you David…

An awesome regiment riding with new weapons and uniforms to war (the return from war might be a little less shiny...)
ReplyDeleteBut in historical reality did jaegers use carbines within a saber-armed unit?
Thank you…
DeleteThe Prussian army included Volunteer Jägers in most units…
In foot regiments they as light infantry skirmishing to the front and flanks of the battalions…
In the cavalry they were deployed and acted the same as hussars or chasseurs might… scouting ahead of and or covering the flag of the regiment….
They would have dismounted to shoot but could also fire and fight from horseback.
All the best. Aly
Splendid looking shiny cavalry!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain…

Beautiful work as always Aly and we haven’t seen many shiny figures for a while 👍
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt…
DeleteThe shiny’s have taken a back seat for a while…
Not helped by the fact that they are mostly packed away in boxes … which are in boxes….
If I want a game I need command, cavalry and guns.., So I thought I had better get on with it 😁…
All the best. Aly
OK confession time. I cringed when you said you would not be using the s series horses for these, but as always you make it work splendidly. These are absolutely the best painted minifigs I have seen. Simply stunning in their deceptive simplicity!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much David…
DeleteI did think long and hard before using these ‘current range’ miniatures but I am indeed very pleased with how they came out.
I will definitely be adding a few more to the collection.
All the best. Aly
They are very nice Aly, so tempted to start a shinny Napoleonic project.
ReplyDeleteWillz.
Thank you Willz…
DeleteGo on … You know it makes sense 😈.
All the best. Aly
The Devil made me do it, Aly.
ReplyDeleteYour new recruits are simply stunning. Best keep quiet about the witchcraft though, lest there be Puritans on the prowl.
Best regards!
WM
Thank you Matthew…
DeleteI was easily tempted 🤣
Apparently lead disrupts the ability of the Puritan detection devices… So I am well protected …
All the best. Aly
Lovely and thanks for the link to Matthews work.
ReplyDeleteThank you Norm…

That painting is super crisp. I wish I could pull that off.
