Shiny Napoleonics… East Prussian Cuirassiers.

Greetings…

Something shiny on a grey Saturday evening…

If I actually want to have a game with this collection I really need to get some Prussian/Allied Cavalry, Artillery and Command painted…

So here we have the first cavalry unit…

The 2nd East Prussian Cuirassier Regiment.

When I bought these on eBay I discovered that some conversion work had been done…

The original figures were sculpted with breastplates and carbines… Okay if you want to represent a unit like the 4th Magdeburg Cuirassiers ind 1815… but not okay for 1813-1814.

The figures I received had the carbines removed and the breastplate reshaped and included two figures to represent the Volunteer Jägers the often accompanied much of the Prussian Cavalry (and Infantry).
This saved me a bit of time which was nice.

The White Tunics are… Citadel… Pallid Wych Flesh.
The Green Tunics are… Foundry… Forest Green 26B.
The Facings are… Citadel Hoeth Blue.
The Overalls and grey bits are… AK Interactive…  English Grey AK11020.
The Red bits are… Citadel… Evil Sunz Scarlet.

As always everything was given a coat of Alys Brown Liquid and then re highlighted with the original colours.

I have some Prussian Dragoons in the painting queue….Sky blue coats with white facings…  Should look nice.

All the best.  Aly

The Jägers add a nice change in uniform and colour to the unit…
I shall definitely try and add them to other regiments.

The Volunteer Jägers are a very Prussian ‘thing’ so it’s good to have them…

  10. Those figures really do look the part with their dark horses and shining helmets. I love the inclusion of the volunteer Jagers. That really makes this battalion distinctive. Beautiful work!

  13. Classic uniform, classic figures, classic (shiny) brushwork, and classic basing. Go to the head of the column at the parade.

  14. Such a fine regiment charging! The fact that some cuirassiers have their arms and swords in slightly different positions makes the whole more varied and lively, but... is it thanks to you, the previous owner or chance? 🤔

  15. The pale colours, subtle shading and dark horses lend them a ghostly, ethereal quality which makes them all the more terrifying Aly. Simply superb.

I believe the heavy cavalry preferred darker coloured horses…
It certainly adds to their menacing appearance.
