Greetings…
Here is my next Prussian artillery battery…
The 10th Battery…
White uniforms on Prussian Artillery…😱.
Are you mad Morrison I hear you say…
No… well not as far as this is concerned…😵💫
They received new uniforms in the October while they were stationed in Detmond … The uniforms were taken from the Lippe-Detmond reserves which they found locally… They only got new Prussian uniforms in 1814/1815…
Can you imagine trying to keep them white and looking clean whilst working the guns…
These figures are converted Minifigs French Artillery crew… I added Green Stuff shako covers and overalls… As there were only four figures to do it didn’t feel like too much of a task…
The Uniforms are… Citadel… Pallid Wych Flesh.
The Facings are… Foundry… Forest Green 26B.
The Gun Carriages are possibly… Citadel… The Fang.
As always everything was given a coat of Aly’s Brown Liquid and then re highlighted with the original colours…
The paints are Wargames Foundry and Citadel
Different and shiny, what's not to like?

Well, you learn something new every day! The shako covers look perfect.
ReplyDeleteThank you…
DeleteThere were a few other variations but none as striking as this one.
All the best. Aly
Excellent idea, will certainly make them show out against all that dark, dark blue!
ReplyDeleteThey will certainly stand out ( and make an excellent target 🤣) nicely on the table…

Striking and different, so a grand addition to the project!
ReplyDeleteThank you David…

Lovely!

Nice to see something new, perhaps unique, to the wargame table. Congratulations on your achievement.
ReplyDeleteStephen
Thank you Stephen…
DeleteThey make for a very pretty unit…
All the best. Aly
Every day is indeed a school day, did not know this uniform fact. Lovely work on them and nice to see the difference between the Minifigs and Hinchliffe from the previous post.
ReplyDeleteThank you Donnie…
DeleteIt is indeed nice to come across something new…
All the best. Aly
Beautiful work and the white looks great but an odd choice historically as I assume they got very dirty very quickly when handling the guns in the field ?
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt…
DeleteI suppose if they had nothing else to wear… You would take what you get…
I reckon they would be a nice shade of grey by the end of the campaign.
All the best. Aly
Always nice to find justification for a non-standard looking uniform Aly - and to my eye, the Good Ol, Minifigs are head and shoulders above the Hincliffe - although, ironically, in real life, kit is probably the other way around!
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith…
DeleteThe Hinchliffe crews aren’t that much taller than the Minifigs as they are quite early models…However later Hinchliffe get really big.
All the best. Aly
I suspect they became grey very quickly. lol.
ReplyDeleteTrue…
DeleteThe pure clean uniforms are however very pretty…. Maybe I should model a Prussian Laundry wagon to go with them 😁
All the best. Aly
Love the look of this smart looking unit. Very toy soldier style which I adore. Great job Aly. Best wishes- Quinn
ReplyDeleteThank you Quinn…

White Prussian artillerymen? I have never seen such a thing. Great-looking battery!

DeleteThank you Jonathan…
Quite daring for the Prussians really…
All the best. Aly
A lovely bunch of gun crew there! "You can't keep a good MiniFig down," as I recall a photo caption saying in an early issue of Wargames Illustrated many, many years ago.
ReplyDeleteKind Regards,
Stokes
Thank you Stokes…
DeleteIndeed… you can’t keep a good Minifigs down… especially if they are shiny 😁
All the best. Aly
As ever you turn these little figures into gems. There's something about the clean and smooth (if toylike) sculpts combined with a confident and accurate paint job plus gloss varnish that makes them look like something Karl Fabergé would've made for the Czarevich.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Rob…
DeleteMy aim has always been to get a porcelain like finish…
I don’t think I use enough gold and diamonds to complete with Fabergé 😁
All the best. Aly
Porcelain? My mind immediately jumped via Meissen to a Saxon connection and the wish to see your version of many people's favourite wargames unit, the Saxon Zastrow Cuirassiers! Are they in the queue somewhere?
DeleteNow there is indeed a pretty unit…
DeleteI’m sure I could find a way of them in the queue…😁
Those cherubic faces seem to be saying: "Hah ha, look at us, we got fancy white uniforms and you don't!"
ReplyDeleteAnd then they realise they have the cleaning bills to pay… 😳
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Excellent - though I agree the thought of keeping the uniforms clean is a bit much - especially in the Prussian army where you can't imagine the NCOs and officers were very interested in any excuses!
ReplyDeleteThank you Warburton…
DeleteMaybe they will need a moral throw if they think that their uniforms will get dirty… 🤣
All the best. Aly
Fantastic painting and lovely unusual uniforms.
ReplyDeleteWillz.
Thank you Willz..

They are like little jewels, Aly!
ReplyDeleteThank you Matthew…

I have not seen that uniform before, always nice to something new. Along with your Hinchliffe gunners these are lovely figures that you have brought to life. Bob
ReplyDeleteThank you Bob…
