Greetings…
Well… It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted anything…
I really lost my painting mojo for a bit… So I thought I would just try and clear some bits and pieces that I had had on the desk for a while…I did a bit … But it did nothing for the mojo.
So I’ve done something different…
I’ve been building and painting some more 15mm (scale) MDF Buildings for my Shiny Napoleonic project… And I have thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Here is the first…
A nice Central European Church from Sarissa…
I replaced the MDF dome with a similar sized wooden bead and put some thin card behind the window openings.
The figure is a Minifigs S Range mounted officer…
As I have said before… I like my buildings to have a modest sized footprint so 15mm buildings with 20mm figures works well for me…
This was a lot of fun… I had forgotten how much I like making terrain… I have a couple more on the go.
As they ( who ever they are) say a change is as good as a holiday.
This was painted very much in the same way as my first 15mm building…
https://alystoysoldiers.blogspot.com/2021/09/shiny-napoleonics-my-first-building.html
The main difference being that the walls were painted with Citadel Administratum Grey… With was lightly highlighted with an Administratum and Palid Wych Flesh mix.
The building was from here…

Next up will probably be… Another building.
All the best Aly
Nice work Aly and the bright colour scheme us totally in keeping with your old school shiny soldiers 😀
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith…

Ooh that's nice Aly!
ReplyDeleteI like the effect in the dome....what it needs now is a stork's nest!
Neil
Thank you Neil…
DeleteI like the idea of a storks nest… 😁
All the best. Aly
Love the marbling on the sphere and the effect as a whole is a perfect compliment to your shiny toy soldiers. Nicely Done Aly!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much David…

Very nice. Reminds me of Bavarian country churches that I saw in the 1970's.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe…
DeleteIt certainly has a German/Central European feel to it… I may also add a Norman/French style church to the collection that way I will be able to cover terrain for the 1813 and 1814 campaigns.
All the best. Aly
Superb work there Aly and I too love painting buildings, making terrain etc, probably more so than painting miniatures!
ReplyDeleteThank you Steve…
DeleteI think with terrain you see the results of your labour quicker than you do with ‘armies’…
It also allows you to add regional character to your table.
All the best. Aly
Nice job, the footprint looks perfect, one size down definitely works (except for tactical).
ReplyDeleteThank you Norm…
DeleteI will no doubt end up with at least two sets of terrain… Battle and Skirmish.
All the best. Aly
A splendid job there old bean it looks spot on.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks old chap…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
A wonderful addition to the scenery collection! I'm with you on the one size down, wish it worked for my waistline too...☹️
ReplyDeleteThank you David…
DeleteI agree with you old chap… I could do with a bit rescaling myself 🤣
All the best. Aly
Well that looks splendid and a useful diversion to tempt back the missing mojo. Top stuff as always.
ReplyDeleteThank you JBM…
DeleteI think seeing something finished in a relatively short time helps you climb out the rut…
Once the butterfly gets a look at something pretty… it will be fluttering off 🦋🦋🦋

The style of these buildings is just a perfect complement to your shiny little men and the replacement of the odd looking MDF 'dome' structure with a large wooden bead is inspired. All very Toytown, I keep expecting Noddy to drive round the corner in his little car... ;o)
ReplyDeleteThank you Rob…
DeleteWould General Noddy be French or Prussian?😁
All the best. Aly
Lovely work on a very nice church, nothing like a change to keep the interest going. I haven't painted anything in ages but busy basing and varnishing and enjoying that side too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Donnie…
DeleteSeeing something finished definitely helps the mojo…
Even re-basing 😁
All the best. Aly
I like the church! When the painting mojo wanes, you found the right remedy by mixing it up.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jonathan…
DeleteIt seems to be working…
All the best. Aly
Love stuff Aly and a great addition to the shiny terrain 👍
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt…

Very nice. Good mix of 15mm with 20mm...an old school look which I really like 👍
ReplyDeleteThank you Jim…
DeleteIt has exactly the look I was after…
Shiny New Old School 😁
All the best. Aly
Wonderful looking church there Aly your painting is amazing, really looks the part for Eastern Europe perhaps it’s somewhere near Ruritania?
ReplyDeleteThank you…
DeleteYes there is definitely a Ruritanian look about it…
All the best. Aly
A charming building: reminds me of my days in Bavaria. I agree on the "off scale" building to figure mix on the table.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ed…
DeleteHopefully it brings back good memories…
The scale difference does have a pleasing old school look to it…And the buildings don’t dominate the table…
All the best. Aly
Splendid looking terrain, reminds me I must do a domed church for my Russians, general Oui Oui is obviously French, non?
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain…
DeleteThe domed roof is certainly very eastern looking
It’s going to be a very useful piece of terrain…
All the best. Aly
Lovely work Aly. I like that weathered copper dome.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark…
DeleteI have to admit that I was quite pleased with it myself 😁
All the best. Aly
You have painted that superbly Aly!
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thank you James…

ReplyDeleteWillz.
Thank you Willz…

That really looks the part - it will look fantastic on a whole "shiny" table. Great stuff.
ReplyDeleteThank you Warburton…
DeleteI’m looking forward to have a whole shiny table 😁
All the best. Aly
