The War of Spanish Succession... New Toys

Greetings...

My good friend Adrian popped over today with some Front Rank WSS British that he no longer wished to keep in his collection...
Most of his troops are Foundry and he has always felt that the Front Rank figures did not really fit in...

So after some wheeling and a little bit of dealing I now have about eight new battalions... Hurrah!
I will be re-basing and re-flagging over the next few weeks... and then possibly a parade.

Adrian is responsible for my first venture into The War of Spanish Succession when he got me involved in a massive demo game of The Battle of Blenheim...

24ftx6ft all built in a room half that size...

Over 30 years ago... how time flies...

A picture taken many years ago...

Nice one buddy...

All the best   Aly

    1. There was indeed generosity... and some old fashioned wheeling and dealing...;-)
I rather shocked me when I worked out how old the picture was... there is a very young Michael Perry on the right...

    1. As far as finished goes... I have all the British infantry that I need...
Which means that I will have to paint more French... and more cavalry and guns and command and Bavarians and Hanoverians..... and...... and...

      So nearly... nearly finished.

    1. The only downside is a need for more French/Bavarians...

  15. Is any of this collection for sale? I would love to get in, as I am starting a 54mm Battle of Blenheim demo game for my granddaughter, but having trouble getting all the figures I need.

    1. In am afraid not...
What I didn’t use was passed on to some other friends of Adrian...

I can only suggest that you keep an eye on eBay... WSS figure collections do pop up from time to time...

  16. Thanks Aly. I am disappointed of course. BTW what would one of your 54mm figures sell for, roughly? Or should it sell for?

    1. Hi there...
I honestly couldn’t put a price on them ... I paint so few of them that wouldn’t think of selling them...

  17. Thank you Aly. I am very keen to get a Battle of Blenheim up to full speed. At the moment I only have about twenty or thirty figures, so they have to work very hard. And my Nebel is made of paper, the Blindheim church of cardboard. A long march ahead till we get to the Danube.

    Best regards,
    Jonty

Have you thought of using Peter Dennis’s Paper Boys ?
