My good friend Adrian popped over today with some Front Rank WSS British that he no longer wished to keep in his collection...
Most of his troops are Foundry and he has always felt that the Front Rank figures did not really fit in...
So after some wheeling and a little bit of dealing I now have about eight new battalions... Hurrah!
I will be re-basing and re-flagging over the next few weeks... and then possibly a parade.
Adrian is responsible for my first venture into The War of Spanish Succession when he got me involved in a massive demo game of The Battle of Blenheim...
24ftx6ft all built in a room half that size...
Over 30 years ago... how time flies...

Nice one buddy...

Splendid acquisition there Aly. Bring on The Parade!
ReplyDeleteThey are indeed...
DeleteYes I do like a parade...
All the best. Aly
You will have quite a force with this batch goodies, to echo Mr. B, bring it on.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think I will need to buy a British Infantry for a while... ;-)

Excellent result Aly - its great to have friends like Adrian!
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed... ;-)

8 battalions of goodness :-)
ReplyDeleteActually once organised to my 18 man battalions we are looking at 10 maybe 12 if I include the unpainted figures... there are also at least three unpainted cavalry units as well.... Hurrah...
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Great generosity...and I like that shot of the Blenheim game!
ReplyDeleteThere was indeed generosity... and some old fashioned wheeling and dealing...;-)
DeleteI rather shocked me when I worked out how old the picture was... there is a very young Michael Perry on the right...
All the best. Aly
Reinforcements! Who doesn't "need" more figures!?!đ
ReplyDeleteAs we all know ... there is no such thing as to many toy soldiers...
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Beautiful new toys, lucky man!
ReplyDeleteI am a very happy man indeed... now all I have to do is find somewhere to put them... ;-)

Gosh that's great,a rapid expansion! Does that mean your almost finished?
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
As far as finished goes... I have all the British infantry that I need...
DeleteWhich means that I will have to paint more French... and more cavalry and guns and command and Bavarians and Hanoverians..... and...... and...
So nearly... nearly finished.
All the best. Aly
That is a very welcome boost to a project...very nice đ
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed... ;-)

How wonderful! The Front Rank range is very, very good and these look sensational Aly.
ReplyDeleteI am very fond of Front Rank miniatures... and there are some nicely painted toys in these boxes.... :-)

A windfall of Front Rank figs: wowsa! Very nice, indeed.
ReplyDeleteThe only downside is a need for more French/Bavarians...
DeleteOh!... wait a minute... no downside what so ever... ;-)
All the best. Aly
Is any of this collection for sale? I would love to get in, as I am starting a 54mm Battle of Blenheim demo game for my granddaughter, but having trouble getting all the figures I need.
ReplyDeleteIn am afraid not...
DeleteWhat I didn’t use was passed on to some other friends of Adrian...
I can only suggest that you keep an eye on eBay... WSS figure collections do pop up from time to time...
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly. I am disappointed of course. BTW what would one of your 54mm figures sell for, roughly? Or should it sell for?
ReplyDeleteHi there...
DeleteI honestly couldn’t put a price on them ... I paint so few of them that wouldn’t think of selling them...
All the best. Aly
Thank you Aly. I am very keen to get a Battle of Blenheim up to full speed. At the moment I only have about twenty or thirty figures, so they have to work very hard. And my Nebel is made of paper, the Blindheim church of cardboard. A long march ahead till we get to the Danube.
ReplyDeleteBest regards,
Jonty
Hi Jonty...
DeleteHave you thought of using Peter Dennis’s Paper Boys ?
