Greetings...
This is something I was going to add on at the end of my last post but I forgot...
I was feeling very pleased with myself over how well I have been getting on with my Sassanids...
Then I asked my good friend Dave Andrews to show me his...
Yeah!...
He is a lot more focused than me...
Rather splendid aren't they...
One of the things I have done over the Lockdown is to binge listen to Mike Duncan's The History of Rome podcast...
This one of my favourite podcasts and podcasters... His description of the Crisis of the 3rd Century is one of the things that got me started on this period...
So in my opinion well worth a listen...

Splendid looking army....and yes he is ahead , but they will die just as easily ! Thanks for the podcast suggestion will look it up my problem at the moment is simple not enough hours in the day to read the books and listen to the podcasts I want to, never mind the audio books as well 🤔
ReplyDeleteHi Matt...
DeleteDave has done a lovely job of the army... and in my hands it would certainly die easily...
I tend to have the podcasts on in the background when I am working or painting... I do miss bits from time to time... but I don’t mind going back and replying the odd episode...
All the best. Aly
Great looking army and a fine inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the podcast as it will be interesting to listen while painting. I know little of that period and it will be good to get to know it.... and get even more inspiration to start a new project ;-)
All the best,
Jan
Hi Jan...
DeleteIt is indeed very inspiring
Looking at your output you will probably start and finish a new project before I have my first game...😂
All the best. Aly
Too many projects on my mind, but will chase you ;-)
DeleteThat is a spectacular army
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed Rob... and he also has the Romans to fight them...
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Are those figures based WAB? (You and all your GW mates should 'buy' WAB and re-release it)
ReplyDeleteThey are based up for Hail Caesar Shaun...
DeletePublishing is not really something I would want to get into... and I am not sure I would want to turn any more of my hobby into a job..
All the best. Aly
Outstanding brushwork by your friend, Dave.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed Jonathan...
DeleteAll the best. Aly
They are on proper rectangular bases too!😉
ReplyDeleteHi David...
DeleteYou noticed...😉
All the best. Aly
They look very nice too Aly...I also noted the basing is different from your own...will you meet this army on the table and will the different basing style cause any problems?
ReplyDeleteHi Kieth...
DeleteMy toys won’t need to meet Dave’s... he also has a substantial Roman army based in the same way...
All the best. Aly
A fine array of eastern delight to suitably inspire.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed Phil...
DeleteAll the best. Aly
The man's prolific!
ReplyDeleteI always admired his demos at shows, he raised the bar way above my head.
Best wishes,
Jeremy
The man is a machine...and yes he can indeed knock up a nice piece of terrain from time to time 😂
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Another equally nice Sassanid army, he's only just ahead! Podcast, sounds good,I wish I had the time to listen!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Only just ahead 😂
DeleteLast count I think he has 80 Cataphracts...😱
All the best. Aly
Dave's boys are very nice. I think I prefer your colour schemes though! Thanks for the podcast link, I'll try and have a listen this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nate...
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Very nice looking figures of Dave's Aly. Methinks an arms race between Princes of Persia is on the cards. Thanks for the tip on those podcasts and I'm off to visit them right now. All the best.
ReplyDeleteHi Carlo...
DeleteI think Dave has already won that one...
All the best. Aly
I forgot to add that Mike Duncan also does another podcast called Revolutions which is also very good.
