ALY MORRISON'S "BUTTERFLY" ADVENTURES IN THE WORLD OF WARGAMES AND TOY SOLDIERS

Late Romans… Done… ish.

Greetings…

Here are the final figures in my great Late Roman rebasing project…

These fellows could be used for Goths, Germans or even Romano-British…

These two chaps came from a larger command stand that was part of my Late Roman acquisition…
The are actually Imperial Roman figures but I decided to give them new heads and a bit of a spruce then base them together…
I think they have worked rather well…Definitely Romans but possibly Romano-British.

This chap also came from the same command stand as the last figures…
I have no idea what range he is from or character he represents but he has the look of a mysterious stranger… And I liked him.
He had a good old general sprucing…

So…
Once I get the chance to clear some space I shall put on a parade of all the toys…And then hopefully a game.

All the best.  Aly

  1. The mysterious stranger might be Marc Aurel in Alex Guinness style?

  4. Very nicely done Aly, the figure is Marcus Aurelius sculpted by Matt Bickley for Warlord if I remember correctly.

  6. They look good! The mounted figure was by Matt for Warlord. He and the two Romans you reheaded were painted for me by Ian Bottrill, a chap I've known since 1968! Not a wargamer, just paints for fun!

Matt did a magnificent job on mysterious Marcus…
Re-heading sounds so much better than De-heading…

      Painting for fun… Unthinkable 😱

  10. They look great Aly. If you ever field them as Romano British (Arthurian), the old guy in the last pic could be a pseudo-Merlin character?

  11. I reckon he's not so much Marcus Aurelius as Richard Harris playing him in Gladiator?
