Greetings…
While I’ve been tidying things up in the wargames room in preparation for some building work later in the year… I realised that I hadn’t taken any pictures of my finished Roman Villa…
So here we are…
I am very pleased with the way it has turned out
It has been painted in the same way as my Roman Temple…

The Villa is from Warbases… It is the Hurlingstone Villa but with extra small store rooms, some walls and a pool.
I was originally going to have the Hurlingstone Villa with just additional walls and the gate , but in the end I combined them all into one.

The water in the pond is Woodland Scenics Realistic Water…https://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/item/C1211
I got mine from Amazon
It’s the first time I have used this and I rather happy with the results… next time I may be a bit more adventurous.
The amphorae and bits and pieces came from Magister Militiumhttps://www.magistermilitum.com/era.html?cat%5B0%5D=61929
All the best Aly

Looks absolutely brilliant Aly. It very much reminds me of the villa that adorned the pages of the old WAB Fall of the West volume which I simply found fascinating. Full of wonderful Foundry figures from the Perry collections if my memory serves. Very nice indeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carlo…
DeleteI believe the buildings in Fall of the West were all scratch built by Alan and Michael..
I must dig my copy out and have a look.
All the best. Aly
That’s an excellent looking villa. Thanks for posting the sources for the buildings and bits and bobs
ReplyDeleteThank you Peter…
DeleteIs a pleasure…

A splendid country residence for your upper crust Romans!
ReplyDeleteThank you David…
DeleteI should really make something for the lesser classes…

Lovely villa Aly. The pond looks good enough to take a dip in!
ReplyDeleteRegards, James
Thank you James…
DeleteI’m very pleased with the results… given that it was my first experience with the water effect.

I like the bird poo on the roof tiles.🤓
ReplyDeleteWhy am I not surprised…😂
DeletePigeons(and their poo) get everywhere…

A very nice addition to your property portfolio Aly...hope to see it at the centre of a game sometime soon...or does that have to wait until after the real world building works?
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith…
DeleteI’m leaving some of the wargames toys till last… so I hope there will be a chance for a few games…
All the best. Aly
Nice. Water (as in ponds, lakes, canals, rivers, the sea...) are not something I do in what could be described as a 'realistic' way!
ReplyDeleteThank you Rob…
DeleteI am not sure I would describe it realistic… although it is certainly shiny .
All the best. Aly
Splendid looking villa! All the additional info is helpful too!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain…
DeleteI’m glad it’s helpful…it always a pleasure to share the source of nice toys.
All the best. Aly
Worthy of a "before" picture on Time Team! Off to play a Lion Rampant game tonight: very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ed…
DeleteI seem to remember a Time Team special about someone building a Roman Villa.
