A Song of Blades and Bronze... Test Figures Part Two.

Greetings...


Here are my next two test figures for this project...


Two Sea Peoples/Persons...





I have gone for almost primary colours for the clothing... pretty much like all the illustrations I have looked at...
The tattoos ( though I have found no evidence of them having them or not ) are straight lines and dashes to contrast with the curved nature of the Northerner's body art.
The shields as they come are a nice contrast... but I have added to this by painting them a deep red (Citadel Mephiston Red) with a lighter red curved pattern.


I am very pleased how these have come out and I am looking forward to painting more...




I don't think that there will be much confusion between them on the table...

    Aly they look bloody gorgeous! Not normally a fan of “shiny” but it really does do them justice. That tartan is terrific too. My God man you must have a steady hand!

      The ‘Shiny’ is a thing that does seems to split wargamers...
      I tend to gloss things if I think that they will look better that way... which means that half my toys are gloss and half are matte... though I must confess that the gloss always puts a smile on my face...
      These days I think that my hands are the only steady thing about me...😁

    An inspired project all around: seems that being able to pull these out of your lead pile indicates that there is some magic at work beyond the table top. Lovey brushwork (as usual)!

    There is a really great Poul Anderson short story “The Bog Sword” which is an evocative read, well worth getting hold of.

    Love the tattoos - Ötzi the Iceman had linear ones like these, clustered around areas where he had health problems. Perhaps your Sea Persons need some extra vitamins!

      I already have more in the painting queue...
      Unfortunately I don’t have any chariots... but they are certainly on the list of ‘wants and needs’... Mharaid has some entertaining ideas about what could pull them đŸ˜±
      Ah! Thank you Stuart it was Otzi I was thinking of when I went for the lines and dashes... I couldn’t remember his name.
      I like the idea that for these chaps the lines are symbolic of points of extra protection...

      The decoration on the kilts is actually historically correct... it seems to have been quite common in the Mediterranean at the time.

    Nice Aly, I have the Northern Europeans too, as Britan was exportign tin to the mediteranean to make Bronze this is all plausible, not that it makes any difference, look forward to seeing how tis develops.
