The last time I was in Nottingham town centre I picked up the latest issue of Wargames Soldiers and Strategy Magazine…(No 124)
I only just got around to reading it this morning… and I was pleasantly surprised to find my name and Brown Liquid mentioned…
It was in an article by James McDowell on painting the Warlord Games Epic Waterloo figures…
The finished figures look fantastic… if I find myself painting really little people I shall probably try out his technique myself…
He mentioned that he came across the recipe for my Brown Liquid on YouTube… but of course all the hip kids know they can find it here…

All the best Aly
The renown of the brown is spreading.
ReplyDeleteIf I ever market Aly’s Brown Liquid that will be my strap line 😁
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Nice to have your Brown Liquid acknowledged in print, Aly 😀
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
And I always thought you used Bovril!
ReplyDeleteThe colours are a pretty good match…
DeleteI wonder if Bovril has a matte or gloss finish…
All the best. Aly
Aly the recipe is gold…well brownish gold…but extremely valuable nevertheless. I’ve put on a few of my wargaming mates to your concoction and we all swear by it. The difference it makes, especially in lighter coloured uniforms etc. is incredible.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carlo…
DeleteIt’s good to hear thar the liquid is spreading 😂
All the best. Aly
I told you that you should market the Brown Liquid!
ReplyDeleteOne day…. 😁
DeleteAh, the secret has been revealed! I feel so plebian for just diluting W&N brown now...
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing wrong with Winsor and Newton David…
DeleteThis reminds me I have to get the ingridients to make some more Liquid! It's a great stuff Aly that helps a lot. I used to use a lot of Devlan Mud which was great, but then Agrax was not the same thing. I'm really happy I found your recipe few years ago.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Jan
Thank you Jan…
DeleteI am glad to hear it works for you…
I need to mix more up for myself…
All the best. Aly
Blogs and Vlogs are nice, but to be acknowledged in print is still king in my view You have arrived! (beats having departed, that's for sure).
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of having arrived…
DeleteLike you say… it is infinitely better than having departed 😁
All the best. Aly
I stand by my a statement that I made some years ago that next to "Lilly the Pink's" famous elixir the brown liquid is the saviour of the human race - or at least for wargames painters...
ReplyDeleteIf I ever produce it as a product I shall endeavour to use your statement on the packaging 😁
DeleteAll the best. Aly
How nice to see your brown liquid in print!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Recognition at last 😁
DeleteAll the best. Aly
I have a small question. With the reformulation of the Citadel shades, does this change your recipe in any way? All the best!
ReplyDeleteHi Baron Grim…
DeleteI haven’t really noticed any serious difference at all…
All the best. Aly
