Greetings…
Yup!… Operation Sealion…or as we in the U.K. often call it… Dads Army.
This is yet another of these butterfly moments that I am going to give the ‘Green light’…
I have a couple of test units painted… which were a lot of fun to do.
Again…I am not sure when or how fast this will happen… but going by the amount of lead I have it will definitely happen.
Here are some of the brave defenders of This Green and Pleasant Land…
The figures were a joy to paint…
As was the important research using well researched documentaries…
My rebasing project continues… but I think I need a break… so I will probably start posting images relatively soon…
My butterfly has been quite lively of late and I have started yet another project… more of which will be posted as it progresses…
All the best. Flutter Flutter 🦋🦋🦋
YES, YES YES………I have some other great ideas for projects you can start Aly 👍 looking forward to seeing this one develop 🙂
ReplyDelete😂keep them coming…

Keep on fluttering ! These are ace.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stuart…

Have you sourced a decent U Boat? Actually that episode would make a pretty good scenario.
ReplyDeleteIt would indeed be a good scenario…
DeleteI was considering setting everything around the Nottingham area…
Motorboats on the River Trent and Paratroopers at the Cricket Ground…
All the best. Aly
Good to see you are using the best primary sources for your project! Accuracy is everything!
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt… I pride myself in the dept of my research 😁

A great start there Aly and I too have the DVD boxed set which my son bought me, which was rather nice of him:). I'm in butterfly mode too but haven't really alighted on anything yet...
ReplyDeleteThank you Steve…
DeleteIt is indeed the butterfly time of year…
All the best. Aly
I think I expected a Butterfly Moment of ECW...
ReplyDeleteI think if I head down the Pike and Shot path I will probably go for the 30years War…I actually have a couple of packs of Assault Group figures so the butterfly won’t have far to flutter 😁
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Splendid stuff but "I think your getting into the realms of fantasy here Morrison" 😂
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil…
DeleteI’ve never left the realms of fantasy 😁
All the best. Aly
First class fluttering.
ReplyDeleteJim
Thank you Jim…

You’re a bad influence on the rest of us with all this butterfly stuff. If you can’t keep a lid on things how are the rest of us supposed to manage? Right I’m off to buy a model a model submarine - see what you’ve done!
ReplyDeleteMe?… A bad influence?!!… Surely not…😂
DeleteIt’s the butterfly that made me do it… Its a very big butterfly 🦋😳.
I look forward to seeing your submarine… a repurposed 1917 model used for very secret gun running in 1926 possibly…
All the best. Aly
"Do you really think that's wise, sir?" ;) (and if not, so what?).
ReplyDelete“Just don’t tell them your name Ed”
DeleteExcellent figures Aly. What a great TV show it was.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ray…
DeleteI have been fending off temptation on this for years…😁
All the best. Aly
We knew nothing about "Dad's Army", neither as an original sitcom, nor as a film, nor as a game. In the United Kingdom, however, it must be very popular, so much so that Foundry is not the only manufacturer to have created miniatures of the characters. Your miniatures are very characterful and fun and your paintjob really brought them to life. Excellent work with details, such as the glasses of these not very young soldiers!
ReplyDeleteThank you…
DeleteI still get a lot of pleasure watching Dads Army…
It’s is probably more of a comment on British society than it is about WW2…
All the best. Aly
It is surprising how recognisable the figures are, or maybe its my memory filling in all the blanks.
ReplyDeleteThey are very good representations of the characters…
DeleteAll the best. Aly
Great stuff Aly, the figures are pretty accurate for the characters in the wonderful TV series - still one of my favourites although I have not watched any for years - maybe I should rectify that via YouTube! As a matter of interest, there is a 28mm mdf waterline unterseeboot - I think it may be from Sarissa?
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith.
DeleteYes I had a look at the Sarissa sight the other day…sigh 😁
All the best. Aly
Lovely stuff Aly, but now you have started down this track, you're doomed.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mark…
DeleteYes Doomed… doomed you say…😁
All the best. Aly
Fluttering bravely there, but, "Are you sure that's wise, Sir?"
ReplyDeleteJust testing you Bickley…
DeleteHello Aly, WOW they look stunning !!!
ReplyDeleteThe tv show was much loved. And we are in Australia! Quinn
Thank you Quinn…
DeleteIt think the show is still much loved…
All the best. Alt
Aah as spring takes hold and the sun occasionally shines so the sight of butterflies becomes a regular pastime. Glad to see another little project take flight with the promise of more to come 😀
ReplyDeleteThank you Graham…
DeleteWho would have thought that wargaming would be so seasonal😂
All the best. Aly
Awesome! this is a project I have always wanted to do, and I have had the Foundry figures for about 10 years... (hmm). I will look on with interest!
ReplyDeleteThank you Warburton…
DeleteGet in there and do it .., you know it makes sense 😁
All the best. Aly
This is a beautiful set and painting Aly! I had a look at this one on Salute as well as some others that were very tempting. It was really hard to resist, but somehow I managed ;-) These sculpts are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Jan
Thank you Jan…
DeleteIt’s going to be a long time project…but I’ve always wanted to do it.. it doesn’t help that I am surrounded by temptation from a couple of our fellow bloggers…
All the best. Aly
It seems I'm just one of the legion of gamers who thought about this but didn't get round to it. Somewhere I even have a magazine stashed away with a map of Walmington-on-Sea. I had wanted to do it in 20mm though, and there were never any figures as good as the Foundry set.
ReplyDeleteWhile typing up my previous comment the feature film (original cast) just started on Film4 - might settle down to watch it for a bit before I toddle off to the club for a bout of Lion Rampant.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say … it’s clearly an age thing… but of course my daughter thinks it’s a splendid idea …especially if I set it around Nottingham…
DeleteI love the Dads army series and the original cast film…
Having said that I also enjoyed the latest film as well…
All the best. Aly
